Lufthansa will focus its activities on Polish regional airports
Poland, together with China and India, have been appointed strategic markets
for Lufthansa’s further development, where the carrier will invest and broaden
its offer. The first step to expand Lufthansa’s presence in Poland was made in
summer timetable 2004, when the carrier offered connections from 3 new Polish
destinations: Gdansk, Krakow and Poznan. This year the strategy has been
continued by offering additional flights from Krakow and Wroclaw. According to
Lufthansa’s new General Manager Poland – Thorsten Bohg, Lufthansa is planning
to serve around 8 Polish airports by 2008. Currently the airline is
investigating the possibilities of extending its services in Lodz and
Bydgoszcz.

“Poland, with the population of almost 40 million people and dynamically
developing aviation market, is important for each airline operating in Central
and Eastern Europe. Last year the number of Lufthansa’s passengers served on
routes Poland - Germany increased by 26%. This proves that our investment
strategy in Poland has been very successful and we are definitely going to
continue it” – said Thorsten Bohg, Lufthansa new General Manager Poland.

Lufthansa is planning to increase further its presence in Polish regional
airports. In 2004 over 50% of the revenues of carrier’s Polish branch were
generated outside Warsaw. Thorsten Bohg predicts a very significant increase of
traffic between Polish regional airports and Germany in the next few
years. “In our opinion Polish aviation market will grow by 10 -15% this year,
which will be the highest increase in Central and Eastern Europe. Such
situation creates numerous opportunities for all airlines operating in Poland,
which Lufthansa would like to take advantage of” – added Thorsten Bohg.

Lufthansa has been present in Poland since 1971 and is the most active foreign
carrier in Poland. In 2004 the biggest expansion in one country in Lufthansa’s
history took place in Poland: the carrier opened connections from 3 new Polish
cities, increasing the number of flights offered from Poland by 25%. Together
with Star Alliance partner - LOT and Lufthansa Regional, Lufthansa currently
offers 283 connections weekly on routes from Poland to Germany. In 2004
Lufthansa carried 520,139 passengers on routes between Poland and Germany.

Lufthanse?

Jeszcze w sierpniu rozpoczną się dalsze negocjacje zarządu lotniska z Lufthansą.

czyli raczej male szanse na uruchomienie polaczen w sezonie jesien-zima.
wieeelka szkoda. DLA WSZYSTKICH!

Moze warto nie zpominac o tradycyjnych przewozikach i zabiegac o nowe
polaczenia? Lufthansa powinna byc faworytem w tej kwestii! Swait nie konczy sie
na LOW_COSTach. Pomijajac ten fakt, Ryanem czy innym Wizzem nie doleci sie do
takich miast jak np JFK, LAX, YVR czy NRT. Na takich trasach lodzianie i
mieszkancy naszego woj. takze lataja. Warto o tym pamietac!

mysle, ze raczej nie ma co liczyc na sezon zimowy. moze ktos ma jakies
informacje czy wogole prowadzone sa jakies negocjacje z LH?
