call of duty - problem z instalacja

Mam problem - po zainstalowaniu i probie uruchomienia wyskakuje couldn't load
default.cfg. Oto co znalazlem na ten temat w readme:

If you try to run Call of Duty™ and receive the error message, "Couldn't Load
default.cfg,” this indicates that the program cannot find the "\main"
directory that is essential to its proper function. This error commonly
occurs when you install the game with no directory specified. For example,
if you choose to install it to a hard drive or partition other than the C:
drive (that is, D:,E:, etc.), but fail to specify a folder, the game will
install everything to the root of the hard drive and the game will not
launch.

If you want to install the game to a hard drive other than the default
setting (C:), please make sure you specify a folder when choosing the other
drive (i.e.: D:\Call Of Duty).

Niestety komunikat wystepuje zarowno gdy zainstalowalem gre w katalogu
E:\call of duty jak i w domyslnym C:\program files\call of duty

Co poczac? Jakie macie pomysly? O co tu chodzi?
Kazda pomoc mile widziana.

ja mialem podobnie ale gra byla lewa a najgorzej ze przejechana dlugopisem na wierzchu tak ze prawie dziura byla w plytce

Sprawdz czy wszystkie pliki sie przekopiowaly
poszukaj ich odpowiednikow na CD
plik default.cfg jest "wpakowany" w inny plik ktory jest archiwum zipa ale ma inne rozszerzenie (.pak? -nie jestem pewien) to sa pliki z drugiej plyty dosc duze ok 70,80 MB
w moim przypadku byl problem z uszkodzonym nosnikiem na CD z ktorego nie mozna bylo przekopiowac kilku plikow wlasnie tych .pak)
trzeba otworzyc te pliki zipem, wypakowac ile sie da na dysk w jakies miejsce, a potem wpakowac spowrotem w ich miejsce w ww .paki
co prawda nie wszystkie pliki udalo mi sie przekopiowac ale bez kilku tekstor tez da sie grac
