Perhaps one of the weakest compilations I've seen, no thought or imagination, just obvious 'singles', when most of the better tracks by these artists are album tracks. As for artists that aren't on here...

The Top 20 greatest songs of the past ten years according to Virgin listeners are:

1. Wonderwall - Oasis
2. Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve
3. Everybody Hurts - REM
4. Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis
5. Why Does it Always Rain on Me? - Travis
6. Creep - Radiohead
7. By the Way - Red Hot Chili Peppers
8. Parklife - Blur
9. The Bartender And The Thief - Stereophonics
10. Trouble - Coldplay
11. In My Place - Coldplay
12. A Design for Life - Manic Street Preachers
13. Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers
14. Whatever - Oasis
15. The Day We Caught the Train - Ocean Colour Scene
16. Last Nite - The Strokes
17. Give It Away - Red Hot Chili Peppers
18. Song 2 - Blur
19. Beautiful Day - U2
20. Common People - Pulp

A best of recent years list without these songs is like a weak Flea bassline..

... Badly Drawn Boy - Once Around The Block
      ... Wilco - Jesus Etc
      ... dEUS - Everybody's Weird
      ... Ian Brown - F.E.A.R
... Blur - Out Of Time (maybe too recent, but it breaks my heart)

The Top 20 greatest songs of the past ten years according to Ilhan are...

...his 20 favourite Oasis tracks wink)))

OK, of course not smile But I'd pick "Live Forever" for sure.
Here are some other songs that deserve to be on the list.

        The Verve, History
        Blur, This Is A Low
        Manic Street Preachers, Motorcycle Emptiness
        The Coral, Skeleton Key
        The Libertines, Up The Bracket
The Charlatans, A Man Needs To Be Told
        R.E.M., I'll Take The Rain
Spiritualized, Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space
        Idlewild, In Remote Part/Scottish Fiction
        Doves, The Cedar Room
        The Cure, Bloodflowers

But it's still "perhaps one of the weakest compilations I've seen" smile))

Live Forever was class, first three singles were unbeatable. I'd go These Wooden Ideas by the Idlewild boys. Cedar Room, stunning song, thinking of huge atmospheres it creates I'd have to sling in some Flaming Lips for sure.. Race For The Prize and Feeling Yourself Disintergrate.

"Roseability", "Idea Track" and "Actually It's Darkness" are, in my opinion,
the best tracks on "100 Broken Windows", so I'd rather pick one of them.

Anything from "Soft Bulletin" is a great choice. "The Spark That Bled", a
            wonderful song, probably my favourite...

Wooden Ideas is a time and place song for me, great memories of playing it to a friend of mine, who was so blown away he played it as the first song at his new job on hospital radio! just imagining all those folks on bed rest getting a good dose of that smile)
