"French fragrance brand Cacharel (L’Oréal) is growing its fragrance family to
embrace a new age bracket with the launch of Promesse, a women’s EdT line
that seeks to attract the 20- to 35-year old. “This is the sequel,” Cacharel
international general manager Marie-Paule Thauziès explains on the expanding
Cacharel family. “Promesse is for a woman who has grown up, who is more
mature. She is ready to live her life as a couple.”
Conceived as the brand’s second pillar after Amor Amor, Promesse is hoped to
rank in the top-15 women’s scents globally and is projected to generate a
turnover in line with Amor Amor, around €70m annually.
The fruity floral, formulated by Carlos Benaïm and Sophie Labbé of IFF, is
housed in a clear bottle that reflects a lilac tint from two facing sides,
designed by Thierry de Baschmakoff.
The fragrance makes a return to more classical Cacharel codes, in contrast to
the flashier, bolder Amor Amor, which successfully garnered new attention,
except in the US where sales dwindled. With this in mind, Promesse is hoped
to revive the brand in the US where the company is investing, especially in
print media with a modified visual for this market.
Promesse will launch globally in September, except in Latin America where it
will arrive in 2006, priced €33 for the 30ml, €50 for the 50ml and €73 for
the 100ml. Four ancillary products are expected to be added in early 2006.
The fragrance will feature in television (except in the US) and press
advertising campaigns, starring models Laetitia Casta and Matthew Avedon, and
shot by Stéphane Sednaoui.
In addition, Cacharel plans to introduce a new men’s fragrance in 2006."
