"French crystal maker Lalique hopes to renew its men’s fragrance
portfolio with the release of Lalique White, set to hit the global
market starting this fall. White is a fresh hesperide with top notes
of lemon leaves, tamarind and bergamot, a heart of violet, white
pepper, nutmeg and cardamom, and base notes of amber, cedar and
musk. “Olfactively speaking, we wanted to add an important new fresh
fragrance for men [to our portfolio],” Lalique international
marketing director Laurence Paul Keller tells CosmeticNews, arguing
that White should bolster and complement the house’s existing men’s
offering. And why is white the chosen theme? “White is tied to the
concept of light, which is very important [in Lalique’s brand
image],” she explains.
The fragrance was composed by Christine Nagel, creative director at
Fragrance Resources in Paris and winner of Cosmetic Valley’s first
International Fragrance Prize last November. “I like using spices
because they’re so malleable—they’re often used in men’s fragrances
to create a heady, strong effect, but with [White], they actually
contribute to the freshness of the scent,” she tells CosmeticNews.
Packaging is a semi-concave white bottle with a metallic cap
resembling a cog—giving an impression of sober functionality that
represents a departure from Lalique’s usual codes. The limited
edition, of which only 25 bottles have been produced, features a
crystal flask with an oval center that seems to radiate with an
opaline, bluish-orange light thanks to the capturing of cooled air.
White will launch exclusively next week at Harrods in London, UK,
ahead of its introduction to European markets between September and
the end of the year, Keller says. The new scent will roll out to the
US and the Middle East in 2009.
The EdT will be priced €59 for 75ml and €73 for 125ml. The line also
includes a perfumed body and hair gel (€26 for 200ml) and a scented
stick deodorant (€24). Prices for the limited edition can be
obtained upon request."
