Euro Info Centres - your key to the European Market Place

Being close to enterprises, Euro Info Centres (EIC) help SMEs to access European
Union programmes and initiatives and to make the most of the opportunities
offered by Europe.
On 1st July 2004, the EIC network consists of 261 "traditional" EICs, 12 Network
Co-ordinators, 28 Associate Members and 13 EICCs. We may also mention the
current 337 EIC relays. All in all, the EIC network is present in 46 countries
(all EU countries plus Norway and Iceland, candidate countries, EICC countries
plus Albania, Macau, Canada and FYROM), and about 280 towns.

To inform. To advise. To assist. This is the triple role performed by Euro Info
Centres. Their aim? To ‘be there’ for SMEs in all phases of their development,
whatever their level of familiarity with Europe.

To inform
To inform enterprises by making available to them their expertise in Community
matters Euro Info Centres answer some 500 000 questions every year. A request
for information is often the first contact a company has with a Euro Info
Centre. The Euro Info Centres offer them tailored replies which take account of
the latest developments.

To advise
An advisory role with targeted European added value Euro Info Centres perform an
advisory role in a wide range of areas. They have developed specific expertise
in issues of immediate interest to SMEs, such as public procurement, financing,
market research, European case-law, establishing partnerships, etc. Many
examples demonstrate, across various subjects areas and businesses, the added
value provided by the early involvement of Euro Info Centres in various
projects, and their very real contribution to successful results.

To assist
Helping SMEs to position themselves on the European market Acting alongside
local specialist agencies and, if required, national agencies, Euro Info Centres
support SMEs in setting up Community projects and in the follow-up of
administrative formalities. They also provide a constant update of relevant
economic, regulatory and technological information. Euro Info Centres lend their
support to the efforts of companies to ‘Europeanise’ and internationalise their
activities through the organisation of trade missions and by providing them with
tailored and regularly updated information on markets in third countries and on
the programmes relating to them.
