"Dior has created the first in a line of fragrance cruise
collections.
Escale à Portofino was created by LVMH-owned Dior’s perfumer-creator
François Demachy, who was inspired by the Italian Riviera to
reinterpret the classicism of a cologne with more feminine accords.
The fragrance opens with notes of Calabrian bergamot, Italian citron
and Sicilian petitgrain, resting on a heart of bitter almond, orange
blossom, juniper berry and cold spices. The base blends cypress,
cedar and white musk with caraway and galbanum.
The cylindrical flacon sets the tone for future fragrances in the
collection. The glass bottle is faceted to reflect Dior’s cane motif
and topped with a silver cap bearing the same design.
A new fragrance will join the collection in 2009, followed by new
editions in the succeeding years.
Escale à Portofino will make its international debut in May, with a
75ml edt retailing at £40 and a 125ml bottle selling for £56.50."
