"French company Selective Beauty is striving to redress the Trussardi brand
for which it obtained the fragrance license in 2005. In preparation for a
major new fragrance arrival this fall, the company launched a limited edition
summer fragrance called Bianco in June. “This was a tactical launch to
prepare the territory,” Selective Beauty senior business development manager
Laurence Corteggiani tells Cosmeticnews.com. Bianco recalls the women’s
fragrance Skin, a fragrance which Corteggiani reveals did not take
off: “There was no leading thread in the brand, so Bianco was created around
new codes, the fabric, the veils and transparency and the color white. We
wanted to bring out the values of the brand.” The packaging also emphasises
the fashion house’s greyhound emblem which Selective Beauty wants to
highlight in future fragrance products.
The Bianco 75ml EdT, created by Firmenich’s Alberto Morillas, retails at €35.
This November, the company will launch its first major fragrance for
Trussardi, a duo line called Trussardi Inside. “The ambition is to recreate a
classic, to present the inside of the brand,” says Corteggiani.
As in the house’s fashion tradition, leather is featured strongly in the
fragrance’s design. Firmenich perfumers Daphne Bugey and Nathalie Lorson were
behind the women’s and men’s formulas respectively. The feminine is an
oriental floral and the masculine scent is a woody amber. The fragrances come
in heavy glass bottles covered in a crocodile skin print, signed Thierry de
Baschmakoff of Aesthète.
Selective Beauty is taking an aggressive stance in terms of positioning with
the new scent. Trussardi Inside will be a top-end fragrance range, in order
to attract consumers to the brand, explains Corteggiani. The women’s line
comprises three EdPs in 35ml, 50ml and 100ml formats priced €37, €56 and €78,
respectively. The men’s offer consists of two EdTs in 50ml and 100ml, priced
€45 and €66 respectively.
Selective Beauty also plans to put significant investment behind the
fragrance at retail with sales tools, sampling, gift-with-purchase and
visuals. A press campaign will support the launch and, in Italy, a national
TV campaign will run. A media campaign will also be launched in time for St
Valentine’s day.
