The League of Gentlemen is an unsettling and at time gruesome comedy, set in
the fictional location of Royston Vasey, an isolated, dead-end and rather odd
town somewhere in the North of England. The lives of its singular inhabitants
unfold and interweave in darkly-comic scenes.

Remarkably, over 60 characters, male and female, are played with astonishing
range and detail by just three people, with such extraordinarily-convincing
performances and make-up that a casual viewer may not even notice the fact. The
town’s characters include Mike, Brian and Geoff, the competitive businessmen
whose long-standing friendship is under constant strain; Mr Chinnery, the
lethal vet; and Tubbs and Edward, owners of The Local Shop, fanatically devoted
to the sale of local goods to local people.
