26-OCT-05 EU School Protest
The Parents Association of the European School in Luxembourg organized a
protest yesterday against the Luxembourg II school and other issues affecting
the children in the Luxembourg I school.
It was held at lunchtime in front of the Batiment Jean Monnet (European
Commission building) in Kirchberg, and a sizeable number turned out.
The protest included the following: a request to have the Luxembourg II
european School based in Kirchberg, the place of work of 80% of the parents;
a demand to restrict the size of classes to 25 pupils; the right of children
to receive an education in their mother tongue; the right of admission for
children from 4 years of age; after-school supervision (garderies on the
premises of the schools themselves; a vertical split between the two
Luxembourg schools, i.e. by mother-tongue; and many more...
