Europe shames Israel's apathy on local Holocaust properties
Israel is seriously behind European countries in everything that has to do
with restoring the properties of Jews that perished in the Holocaust. In
Germany, real estate has been restored to owners and in Switzerland, $800
million was alloted to inheritors of bank account holders and millions are
paid monthly to insurance policy holders. By contrast, in Israel the process
is only in early stages.

At least 170 such bank accounts are held by Bank Leumi. Its attorneys and
CEOs are fighting hard to keep the report from being published. With the
absence of legislation or a court order that will force them to pay, Ram
Caspi, representing Bank Leumi has made it clear it will not "pay a single
