I live in a suburb of London, between 2 bigger suburbs, Sutton (where the
English language college is) and Croydon, each of which has a huge shopping
centre etc. There is a leisure centre with a swimming pool within walking
distance, or about 10 minutes by bus. We are about 30 minutes' drive from
Gatwick Airport.
You will have 2 small boys to look after (8 and 6), active, mischievous and
very loving. I am a busy lawyer. The boys’ father works in an estate agency
and is usually, but not always, around at the end of the day to supervise
homework and bedtime. Our family interests are football, piano, recorder,
singing and all kinds of music, chess and other games, books, acting and
sport generally.
The job is an au pair plus, 30 hours + 2 evenings babysitting per week, for
which we pay £85, plus overtime at £3 per hour. You are free at weekends from
6 pm on Fridays and we encourage you to make friends. We can introduce you to
the International Coffee Club, a local group where a lot of au pairs meet,
once a week.
You have your own room with TV/DVD, and a radio/CD/cassette player. I am
arranging internet access, but the computer is in the boys’ room.
