IDF Rules Of Engagement Less Than Honorable;

One infantry squad leader described an incident in which a
Palestinian mother and her two children were shot and killed by an
IDF sharpshooter ,... That squad leader is quoted by Haaretz as
saying of the sharpshooter, "I don't think he felt too bad about it,
because after all, as far as he was concerned, he did his job
according to the orders he was given. And the atmosphere in general,
from what I understood from most of my men who I talked to ... I
don't know how to describe it .... The lives of Palestinians, let's
say, is something very, very less important than the lives of our
soldiers ,...
Another squad leader testified that he argued with his commander
about the permissive rules of engagement that allowed IDF troops to
clear out houses by shooting and killing the civilian occupants
without first warning the civilians. In another incident, IDF troops
were ordered to shoot and kill an elderly Palestinian woman from a
distance as she was walking down a road.
Other testimony included the fact that IDF soldiers went into
Palestinian civilian's homes, took family photographs off the walls
and spat on them as well as wrote "death to Arabs" on the interior
walls of some of those homes in the Gaza Strip ,...
