"Thierry Mugler fragrance brand (Groupe Clarins) hopes to reach new consumers
with the launch of a new women’s fragrance, Eau de Star (see picture), and a
new men’s fragrance, Ice Men. Both capitalize on the brand’s star logo and
blue color—emblematic elements of previous fragrances—as well as the powerful
patchouli olfactory signature of Angel. “The idea is to continue constructing
around these themes,” Thierry Mugler Parfums president Joël Palix tells
CosmeticNews. Since the new fragrances are more simple and accessibly priced
at 25% less than Angel or A Men, they should bring in a younger consumer and
not cannibalize the brand’s three pillars (Angel, Alien and A Men), Palix
estimates.
The brand projects the new fragrances to represent 20% of its sales in 2008.
For the launch, press campaigns are planned but, as usual for Thierry Mugler,
major efforts will be invested at points-of-sales (pos), in strategies for
customer relations and sampling. In addition, for its 15th anniversary this
year, Angel will continue to benefit from considerable support, Palix says.
To date, Angel represents 50% of Thierry Mugler Parfums sales, Alien 20% and
men’s fragrances 20-25%.
Eau de Star, a women’s scent, is an aquatic oriental formulated by Louis
Turner of Quest. The bottle captures a star inside. The line comprises two
EdTs in 25ml, 50ml and a refillable 50ml, priced at €42, €62 and €72
respectively.

Ice Men has a fresh patchouli accord, by Jacques Huclier of Quest. The bottle
with a star sculpted into the side, evokes the freezing of the water. The
bottles were designed by Jean Jacques Urcun. The EdT comes in 50ml and 100ml
sizes, priced at €40 and €52, and a glacial shower gel 200ml is priced €24.
The fragrances launch in April worldwide except in the US (less than 500
doors) where they will arrive on the shelves in September."

Nie zdziwilem sie takze widzac Secret na niemieckiej strefie, zapewne bedzie
dostepny w ciagu roku wszedzie jako pelna linia- juz bez dorabiania ideologii
o "wylacznosci"
Nie podoba mi sie kierunek, w jakim idzie marka niestety- zawsze moja
ulubiona. Kofret "Le Parfum" byl ciekawym krokiem, czekam na Aure, ktora ma
byc dostepna osobno, ale najnowsze pomysly Muglera to odcinanie kuponow od
sukcesu Angela. Firma planuje takze Alien Man- na 2007 lub 2008.
