F1. Przemianują Saubera na Lotusa?

04.09.09, 15:41
"Gdy w czerwcu Peter Sauber postanowił wycofać się z Formuły 1,
niemiecki koncern zaczął gorączkowo poszukiwać sponsora na kolejny
cykl Grand Prix"

Hm... a ja myślałem, że to niemiecki koncern postanowił się wycofać
z F1 i to Peter Sauber zaczął szukać kogoś, kto przejmie udziały BMW
i utrzyma zespół.

No cóż. Widocznie mi się wydawało.

      1. BMW Sauber nie jest koncernem niemieckim, a firma SZWAJCARSKA!
Firma Szwajcarska ma umowe na zakup od BMW silniokow do bolidow. Siedziba BMW
      Sauber jest Hinwil, w Szwajcarii.

“We did not have to show an engine supply contract but we have given some
indication, we are talking to engine manufacturers and there would be a
solution,” he said of the application.

Swiss Peter Sauber ran sportscars for several years before he pulled off a
coup by enticing Mercedes back to international racing in the late-80s.
Together they won the Le Mans 24 Hours and the World Sportscar title, and
developed a young Michael Schumacher. The plan was to run a Sauber-Mercedes F1
team, but the manufacturer withdrew its support. Sauber carried on and entered
F1 in its own right in 1993, before Mercedes changed its mind and came in
after all in ‘94. However, it soon switched its support to McLaren. Sauber
attracted works Ford backing for a while, and main driver Heinz-Harald
Frentzen scored several good results. In 1997 Ford moved elsewhere so Sauber
bought ‘customer’ engines from Ferrari, which were named in honour of
Malaysian backer Petronas. The following year French star Jean Alesi joined
      the team.

The team reached a peak when Nick Heidfeld and rookie Kimi Raikkonen helped it
to fourth in the championship in 2001. In June 2005 Sauber sold his company to
BMW, but retained a 20% shareholding. The team was re-launched as BMW Sauber
in 2006, with the engine and transmission supplied from Munich. With Heidfeld
and Robert Kubica driving the team was clearly the third best in 2007, and
      both men continue this season.
BMW Sauber headed into the 2006 season as a constructor in its own right after
purchasing the Swiss-based Sauber Petronas team.
BMW supplied its V10 engines to Williams in what was a technical partnership
between the two parties and under the BMW Williams banner, would secure ten
race wins with the squad over five years.

Perhaps restless at not being able to gain Championship glory, the Board at
BMW announced mid-way through the 2005 season that they would take control of
      Sauber Petronas.

      2. Team BMW Sauber liczyl ze z Roberten Kubica zdobedzie mistrzostwo
swiata w trzecim roku startow. Niestety niepowodzenia z F 1.09 spowodowaly
      negatywna reklame dla BMW.

Following a meeting of the BMW board on July 28, the company held at press
conference the following morning in which it confirmed the team's withdrawal
from Formula One at the end of 2009.
Chairman Dr Norbert Reithofer described the decision as a strategic one.
The Formula One Teams Association released a statement in response pledging
its support to help the team remain in F1.
BMW-Sauber have several rescue proposals on the table and have applied to keep
their place in Formula One next year despite BMW’s shock departure, team
      principal Mario Theissen said Thursday.

German car manufacturer BMW announced last month that it was pulling out at
the end of the season, leaving its majority-owned Swiss-based team desperately
seeking new backers to stay in business.

That task became tougher when the governing International Automobile
Federation (FIA) invited interested parties to apply by last Monday for what
had been BMW’s place in the championship.

BMW-Sauber's USD$ 412 million, of which USD$356 million is in cold, hard
cash, is second highest, thanks also to national oil company Petronas' ranking
as the highest paying non-title sponsor or team owner in the sport with a
      USD$42 million contribution.
BMW-Sauber's budget is 97.55% of Honda's, with BMW being the biggest
contributor with USD$220 million. Even that, only ranks the team owner as the
fourth biggest of the 192 sponsors associated with teams in the sport, after
Honda (USD$340m), Toyota Motor Corp. (USD$315m) and Red Bull (USD$279m).
Petronas is the premier partner for BMW Sauber team. Petronas, a previous
title sponsor renewed their contract with Sauber when BMW bought the Swiss
team. Petronas's Syntium brand is advertised and clearly visible on the livery
of the F1.08. In December 2005, Intel Corporation and the BMW Group entered
into a comprehensive agreement that includes technology, co-marketing and
Intel’s sponsorship of the BMW Sauber F1 Team.

Official partners include Credit Suisse, T-Systems, Dell & Puma AG. Credit
Suisse and the BMW Sauber F1 Team have been partners since 2006. The Credit
Suisse company logo appears on the cars, helmets, suits, drivers’ caps, pit
backdrops and trucks. However Credit Suisse's contract with BMW Sauber was
terminated for the 2009 season. Dell supports the BMW Sauber F1 Team with
optimised IT equipment at their facilities in Munich and Hinwil and at all
race tracks. The logo of the Swiss watch maker Certina is displayed on the
team's lollipop used during pitstops, and the team also has the chemical giant
      DuPont as sponsor.

For 2009, the team announced a partnership with foreign exchange company FxPro
to show their logo on the front wing and side mirrors and on the drivers'
helmets and overalls plus the team's clothing, trucks and equipment
Petronas' USD$42 million makes them the 11th biggest sponsor in the sport.
BMW Sauber Sponsorship budget was arround $348 million in cash and $38.9 in
non cash, so a total of $386.9 million.
