Do Poles work longer???

11.11.06, 00:06
To give you a breif introduction I may say that I have been working for a one
multinational company for a 2 weeks up to now. There was a spare post because
this firm is closing it's Finansial Department in London and now everything
will be in charge of Polish subsidary- that's why we have a lot of work...

But I have heard an opinion that here, in Poland, we have to work till
everything is done (often it means staying in work from from 8 a.m. to 8
p.m., or even longer) while people in London work from 9 to 5....

Do you think there is a difference in treating Polish and foreigners
employees? Maybe it's just another stereotype (I hope so!)? Please, give your
opinion.

From 9 to 5? Man, forget it! Here only the politicians work for so short
      period, if ever...

The fact is that UK people often do not want to put the hours in, and as a
result you can see that in your Group's case they will not be asked to do the
work at all. That does not mean they will be sitting on their asses grinning,
it means they will be downsized.

      As in sacked.
