2009 Mystery & Crime Conference 'THE WAGES OF SIN'

24.03.09, 20:52
THE ANNUAL MYSTERY AND CRIME WEEKEND
ST HILDA’S COLLEGE, OXFORD
The Wages of Sin
21st-23rd August 2009
The Annual Mystery and Crime Weekend
Welcome to the Sixteenth Mystery and Crime Weekend. This Weekend has become a
significant and popular event in the calendar of crime fiction conferences and
we do hope you will be joining us - so many of you have over the last fifteen
years. It is a formal conference with papers relevant to the theme and the
speakers are chosen to match the topic. This year’s theme is ‘The Wages of
Sin’. As usual many aspects of the topic will be covered and we think we can
promise a very interesting programme. Plenty of opportunity will be given for
participating in discussion, asking questions and just relaxing with the
speakers and other participants.

The Conference Programme
Commencing with the Reception and Conference Dinner on Friday evening, the
conference itself (Saturday & Sunday) is divided into morning and afternoon
sessions with breaks for tea/coffee. There is also drinks and a dinner on
Saturday evening.

The Speakers
This year’s speakers to date include: Robert Barnard, Kate Charles, Mary
Andrea Clarke, Martin Edwards, Christine Paulson, Betty Rowlands, Marcia
Talley, Andrew Taylor and Laura Wilson. To be confirmed are the
after-dinner speakers for Friday and Saturday evening.

About St Hilda’s
St Hilda’s College, Oxford is situated on the banks of the River Cherwell
overlooking the meadows and spires of Merton and Magdalen Colleges. Its
lovely gardens sweep down to the edge of the river which is justifiably famous
for its punting and picnics and is wonderful for strolling and relaxing. The
centre of Oxford is only a few minutes walk away, but the College lies in a
pleasantly secluded area away from the noise and bustle of the city. The
location provides an excellent base for sightseeing in Oxford and the
surrounding areas. B&B is available for those wishing to spend extra time in
Oxford, before or after the conference. Access by train is good and there are
excellent coach services to Oxford from Central London and Heathrow & Gatwick.
And it is one of the few places in Oxford that offer parking (please tick the
booking form if you will need it).

Bookstore
As in previous years, there will be a bookstore open throughout the weekend.
This will be provided by ‘Partners in Crime Books Ltd’ and both new and
second-hand mystery & crime books will be on sale. They will try to have all
the speakers’ available books, also those of other authors attending the
conference, and there will be opportunities to have your purchases signed by
the authors.

      "Cost: Approximately $2,999 (price reduced!!)"

O ile pamiętam to jeśli pominiemy pobyt w Londynie i cenę zakupionych książek to
        • siostra_pelagia Re: 2009 Mystery & Crime Conference 'THE WAGES OF 26.03.09, 15:05
          • drfell1 Re: 2009 Mystery & Crime Conference 'THE WAGES OF 26.03.09, 15:10
            Znalazłem ich
            www.uwsp.edu/conted/travel/Factsheet-Mystery-Writers-2009.pdf
