A few historical facts: May 1934, an initiative aiming to bring
together France and Russia (Barthou) in a pact with Poland and
Soviet Union (including England). Poland rejects the proposals. It
is known that the official motivation for this decision (I think
wrongly) was called “the policy of balance to the Third Reich”, but
just before the war our min. Beck clearly pointed out that he fears
the cooperation with the Russia and does not agree for cooperation
with the Russian troops, if necessary, in Poland (including
Romania). I would add that step was inconsistent in the context of
global warming between Poland and the USSR in connection with the
signing of the London Convention and the recognition of the Polish
border by the Soviet Union (05/05/1934). The Soviet Union was
isolated in the international arena and strive for legitimacy in
seeking contact with any of whom could - rejected as a partner in
the fight against fascism look for, even temporary, alliance with
this system and found against Poland.
