Immediately after the construction of the Berlin Wall in August 1961, Gerhard Klein's THE GLEIWITZ CASE arrived in theaters in the GDR. Together with his authors Wolfgang Kohlhaase and Guenther Ruecker, Klein reconstructed detials of the surprise attack by a Nazi unit on the radio station at Gleiwitz on the Polish border in 1939. This attack, which was blamed on Polish forces, served as Hitler's justification for marching into Poland thus starting the Second World War."
