JERUSALEM The fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has claimed the lives of
at least two Americans living in Israel.
One was a soldier in the Israeli army. Twenty-one-year-old Michael Levine
moved from Philadelphia three years ago and joined the military as a
paratrooper. Levine had cut short a visit with his family just days ago to
rejoin his unit. The unit was fighting militants in Lebanon this week when
Levine was one of three Israeli soldiers killed.
In the second case, Israeli police say an Israeli-American died today when
the militants fired rockets into his northern Israel town. He was riding his
bike home after a warning siren went off, but died at the entrance to his
home.
The 52-year-old man isn't yet identified, but neighbors say he was originally
from the Boston area, and lived in Israel some two decades. His wife and two
daughters had fled to southern Israel when the trouble with Hezbollah
started.
