Słowianie (Słoweńcy?) w Austrii

12.12.04, 00:32
Ktoś kiedyś wspominał (o ile dobrze pamiętam) o autochtonach słowiańskich w
Austrii.

Mam tu jeszcze kilka informacji o współczesnych (?)

Jauntalerisch
Rosentalerisch
Gailtalerisch

W trakcie robot ziemnych wokol Wiednia, poprzedzajacych budowe autostrady
Südrandstraße S 1, odkopano 150 miejsc pochowku przodkow dzisiejszych
Austriakow, a mianowicie Awarow i Slowian, ktorzy wspolzamieszkiwali ten
region.
Dolnej Austrii, Styrii, Karyntii i wschodnim Tyrolu, jeszcze przed upadkiem
imperium Awarow i jak twierdzi autor ponizszego artykulu, historie wczesnego
Sredniowiecza trzeba bedzie napisac na nowo. Zaznacza sie tez , ze Awarowie to
      lud niewiadomego pochodzenia i jezyka.

czasem. Spodziewajmy sie w najblizszych latach niezwykle interesujacych wiesci
spod Wiednia, interesujacych nie tylko dla Slowian. A moze juz sa jakies nowe
      wiesci na ten temat?

      Beating the bulldozers:
ROAD CONSTRUCTION UNEARTHS AVAR GRAVES FROM EARLY MIDDLE AGES
"B 301" may sound like some kind of secret formula, but actually it is the name
once given to a proposed perimeter highway aimed at relieving traffic
congestion in and around the capital Vienna. It can also cause tempers to
flare, but that doesn't make it a medicinal ingredient, either. Although the
year-long battle between politicians and environmentalists over the project is
far from over, plans call for the construction of a motorway which will circle
Vienna to the south from the year 2006. For archaeologists it is a race against
time and a search for the forefathers of today's Austrians.
Preparatory work is already underway for the thoroughfare which has now taken
on the less emotion-filled name "Südrandstraße S 1". Before road construction
is begun in earnest, usually experts are called in from the Austrian Federal
Office for the Care of Monuments, a federal authority which was established in
1850 by Emperor Franz Joseph. Ever since, its main task has been to carry out
research into and help in the preservation of constructions of all kinds, that
is whether man-made or "natural". One of the departments is responsible for
      underground historic sites.
History of Early Middle Ages has to be rewritten
One such site currently being excavated is located in the Laxenburger Straße in
Vösendorf, just adjacent to the Vienna city boundary. It was here that the
experts have so far discovered around 150 grave sites, according to the head of
the expedition, Franz Sauer. Together with his ten-member team he only has
until the end of this year to complete the excavation work, for it is then that
construction company bulldozers and graders will move in to prepare the
      foundations for a highway.
The discoveries made thus far are interesting in themselves. The skeletons and
the burial objects will be taken to the Arsenal building in Vienna's third
district, where there are special workshops to clean, measure and document
them. But there is more to it than just the physical objects recovered from
      beneath the surface.

The grave fields offer first-hand proof, experts say, that the Avars and the
Slavs lived together in or coinhabited this region at the same time. The Avars,
a people of undetermined origin and language played an important role in
eastern Europe from the 6th to the 9th century. They built an empire in the
area between the Adriatic and the Baltic Sea and between the Elbe and Dnieper
rivers. Some time between the mid and late 6th century they established
themselves in the Hungarian plain between the Danube and Tisza rivers. At the
time of their greatest expansion, the Slavs for their part penetrated as far as
Lower Austria, Styria, Carinthia and eastern Tirol.
Franz Sauer from the Federal Monuments Office says that for the first time ever
it is possible to prove the existence of a cohabitation of the Avars and the
Slavs. "The grave fields in the Laxenburger Straße make it possible to
illuminate the history of both peoples in our region although these histories
are 150 years apart." He continues: "Up until now we assumed that the Slavs did
not migrate to the areas south of the Danube until after the destruction of the
dominion of the Avars by Charlemagne toward the end of the 8th century." Franz
Sauer adds that based on the dates on the coins they've found it is apparent
that there was no breach in the population but instead a transition.
Construction company aware of historical significance
Construction of the "S 1", the Vienna southern fringe motorway, is supposed to
be completed by the year 2006. With a length of 16 kilometres, it will link the
A4 or eastern motorway with the A2, the southern motorway. The Asfinag
construction company is aware of its corporate responsibility and says it will
do its utmost to see that great care is taken at the site to allow the
treasures to be brought to the surface.
This is not the first discovery to be made along the "B 301" route. Last year,
a grave field with an area of seven hectares was found at Schwechat, just east
of the capital Vienna. Archaeologists expect to complete their excavation work
in Vösendorf by this summer. After that they will be tackling another site at
Schwechat. Perhaps that work will provide another opportunity to re-write
      history.
