"US consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) is to launch a new female
fragrance under the Hugo Boss brand in late August/early September, called
Femme (woman). As with all P&G launches, this one will be international and
accompanied by an extensive press and audiovisual advertising campaign. The
campaign will feature German model Julia Stegner and is photographed by Glen
Luchford.
Opening with tangerine, black current and freesia, the fragrance flows into a
heart of jasmine and fleur de lys, as well as Bulgarian rose. Base notes
include apricot and lemon wood. The fragrance was created in-house by the P&G
Prestige product team in collaboration with Swiss flavor and fragrance
manufacturer Firmenich.
The flacon was created by Andrea Brandt at German design house Donkey Design.
The EdP comes in 50ml and 75ml sizes at €47 and €61 accompanied by a
fragranced body milk (200ml at €28), a bath gel (200ml for €25) and a 150ml
deodorant spray for €25.
The choice of name for the fragrance caused quite a stir among journalists at
the presentation this afternoon in Paris, France. Many felt that “Femme” the
very same name as the classic Rochas fragrance—also owned by P&G—was an act
of negligence of brand heritage by a multi-national shuffling brand
priorities in its portfolio. P&G announced yesterday that it is to halt its
directly-operated Rochas fashion activities. This will, however, have no
impact on the Rochas fragrance business which P&G will maintain."
