"French fragrance manufacturer Inter Parfums will introduce the
first fragrance for surf and lifestyle brand Quiksilver this summer.
Quiksilver is a woody, aromatic marine men’s scent, formulated by
Antoine Lie and Antoine Maisondieu of Givaudan. In a nod to the
brand’s Australian origins, the scent features certified organic,
fair-trade sandalwood oil sourced from an Aboriginal community, a
first for a fragrance, the brand says.

Described as a “transgenerational” brand, the fragrance is expected
to attract a wide range of consumers, Quiksilver brand manager
Pierre Desaulles tells CosmeticNews. The fragrance is positioned to
be “accessible” to all men, with the core consumer aged between 15
and 35, he confirms. Likewise, the men’s fragrance will have a wider
distribution than Quiksilver’s young womenswear brand Roxy, for
which two scents have launched in the past year.

The line will debut in July in France in Quiksilver boutiques,
rolling out to global selective distribution beginning in August,
with the exception of Australia, where it will launch as of 2009.
The key markets for the brand are France, the US, the UK and Spain,
according to Desaulles.

The juice comes in a transparent flask-shaped bottle with a rubber
cap. The EdT line is priced from &euro:46 (10ml) to €23 (30ml). The
launch will be backed by a print campaign featuring French surf
champion Jeremy Flores.

The fragrance line follows hot on the heels of Quiksilver’s first
suncare line, which is currently rolling out in very limited,
targeted distribution. A second Quiksilver men’s fragrance is
expected to launch in the next 12 to 18 months."
