Gdzieś zginął stary wątek, to zakładam nowy.

12 września wyjdzie nowy album Yo La Tengo - po 3 latach od Summer Sun był to
już najwyższy czas. Ma zawierać pietnaście premierowych kawałków i będzie się
nazywać "I Am Not Afraid Of You and I Will Beat Your Ass", co sugeruje, że tym
razem będzie na wesoło. Na stronach matadora pojawiła się zresztą pierwsza mp3
- stwierdzam że YLT zwariowali, bo brzmi to jak XTC łamane przez The Jam, oraz
jest kolorowo i bogato aranżacyjnie. Ale fajnie.

"Bonnie "Prince" Billy Letting Go on New Album

Will Oldham's veil of secrecy has been lifted just a tiny bit, revealing a
shaggy beard, piercing blue eyes, and details of the new Bonnie "Prince" Billy
album. Then the Letting Go, recorded in Iceland last winter with Björk producer
Valgeir Sigurdsson, is due out September 18 on Domino in the UK, and in the
U.S. the following day courtesy of Drag City.

The album includes backing vocals from Dawn "The Faun" McCarthy of Drag City
labelmates Faun Fables, bass from Billy's brother Paul Oldham, guitar riffs
from Emmett Kelly (the Cairo Gang), and percussion from the Dirty Three's Jim
White.

Then the Letting Go will be preceded by the single for "Cursed Sleep", due July
24 in the UK (Domino) and July 25 in the U.S. (Drag City) in both CD and 12"
formats. The former will include a video. "Cursed Sleep" is backed by two non-
album tracks.

Another single, "Cold and Wet", will come out November 13 on Domino in the UK
and November 14 on Drag City.

As previously reported, Oldham is set to play two gigs at New York's Joe's Pub
on August 5. The stint is in celebration of the Brooklyn Fire Proof
gallery's "FOLK" installation, and will see Oldham sharing the stage with folk
legend Hazel Dickens.

The venue website claims Oldham will focus both sets on "traditional music,"
playing alongside his other brother, Ned (aka Captain Anomoanon). Non-NYC
residents itching to hear some new tunes can catch Oldham doing free instore
and radio performances this August around the Midwest, according to Drag City.
The label also reports that "he's working on videos as well as at least a dozen
other things," so stay tuned a dozen times.

Also, according to various reports, the company Kino International has picked
up the acclaimed indie film Old Joy, which stars Oldham, for distribution in
the U.S. and Canada. So people who don't go to film festivals might actually
have the chance to see it sometime soon."

Na to zawsze możemy liczyć :) Poza standardowym " to najlepsza płyta, jaką
nagraliśmy " z wypowiedzi zespołu wynika, że poszli zdecydowanie w progresywnym
kierunku ( zresztą check out czast trwania utworów - notabene utwór numer
siedem jest przewidywany na singiel ), wyznaczonym przez kawałek
" Paschendale " z ostatniej płyty. A że, jak dla mnie, jest to jeden z
najlepszych utworów zespołu w ogóle ( jeśli nie najlepszy ), oczekuję czegoś
naprawdę dużego.

ulubionych piosenek - w związku z czym będą musieli się oni pofatygować i
wysłuchać tego pana. Drań ;))

(dla przypomniena - Grant Lee Phillips to ten pan, który nie absolutnie wywarł
żadnego wpływu na zespół British Sea Power, a w wolnych chwilach podśpiewuje

Jak sobie Kolega życzy. Antycypuję jednak ostrzeżenie, iż w takiej sytuacji nie
usłyszy Kolega na przykład phillipsowej wersji THE ETERNAL, która wytarmosi
mnie tak samo, a może nawet mocniej niż oryginał Joy Division. Po jej
wysłuchaniu nabiorę wielkiej ochoty na doczekanie kiedyś dnia, w którym GLP
nagra całą płytę z kowerami JD :))

No to muszę napisać, że słucham od paru dni i ciekawie jest. "Wave Of
Mutilation" i "Boys Don't Cry" nieźle przekazują klimaty całej płyty - poznasz,
że to Pixies i The Cure kawałki, ale zrobione totalnie po Grantowemu. To rodzaj
takich coverów, jakie lubię - autorskie a zarazem nieprzekombinowane. Golden 80s!

An expansive project which had Amon Tobin, armed with vintage recording tools,
travelling far and wide in search of wildlife, insects, machinery, kitchen
utensils, musical instruments and musicians. Which were all recorded with
calculated objectivity in order to then be brought in to the studio and treated
simply as raw material.

the upcoming album will be out on January 22nd.

Press Release:
Genius of noise manipulation and uncompromising musical auteur, Amon Tobin will
shortly be releasing his new album for Ninja Tune, Foley Room. For this new
project Amon and a team of assistants headed out into the streets with high
sensitivity microphones and recorded found sounds from tigers roaring to cats
eating rats, neighbours singing in the bath to ants eating grass. Tobin then
took this wealth of source material and twisted it round into the haunting,
muscular music you can hear for the first time here.

Bloodstone[ begins life as a disturbing waltz, before the dirtiest, most foul-
smelling and obnoxious vortex of a beat stomps all over that and the whole
builds to a constantly deferred orchestral finale apparently built from tune
ups. The strings in this piece are provided by the world famous Kronos Quartet,
recorded in San Francisco with Amon.

Esther’s plays games with the surf music tradition of including motorbike
noises as surrogate basslines, though in Amon’s case the surf guitar sound is
filled out with an extra layer of wasps, whereas the motorbike is given the
kind of sub-frequencies that make it sound like Satan’s idea of a good ride.
It’s worth noting here that one of the common threads of Foley Room is what
Amon describes as "the pairing of sounds that share a sonic quality despite
being otherwise unrelated".

They Lost the Moon (not included on the album), is in some ways the most
relaxed of the three – devotional spiritual music built from industrial remains
and scrap metal. It is adapted from part of the score to <a
href=”http://www.taxidermia.hu/”>Taxidermia</a>, an avant-garde Hungarian film
that Tobin soundtracked whilst also working on Foley Room.

A marvellous introduction to the latest stage in Amon Tobin’s brutal, beautiful
musical development, the release of Foley Room will be accompanied by a DVD
documentary showing the full story of how this remarkable record was made.
