deport the sick foreigners!Keep our country clean!

21.02.07, 11:46
when i read the title of the article:
wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/1,53600,3934223.html
i thought it was really harsh of the polish govt to throw people out just to
save a few bandages for their own people - thank God for private healthcare.
However, once i realised it was about infectious diseases, then, ok; i mean
isn't it just the traditional way to deal with infectious diseases to
quarantine the sufferers in one place and prevent the spread of the disease?
so it makes sense really, doesn't it? i mean if they're infectious, they're
not going to be getting any visitors anyway.

as to accusations of segregation and discrimination; i) isn't segregation a
standard method in the fight against contagious diseases? ii) would you like to
work/live with contagious people - or for that matter psychopaths and crack
addicts - on the basis that to separate them would be 'discriminatory'? as for
it being inhumanitarian, i don't think so - it's not as if the rest of the EU
is a wasteland where they'll be left to die (perhaps here the uk is an
exception wink ) They do have healthcare there as well you know...

Looking at the article I think this is a case where poor quality govt.
personnel, possibly using poor quality Polish translations, have completely
        misunderstood EC regulations.

        Why am I not surprised?

The deportation of individuals with contagious diseases runs contrary to common
        humanity and common sense.

          as was noted yesterday:

So the next time a flu epidemic hits Poland they're f***ed cos they'll have to
send 150,000 builders back to Ukraine and the 4th Reichpublic will grind to a
halt. They'll have to send the subsidies back to Brussels and explain that they
can't finish building these roads and bridges because they've ethnically
      cleansed the workforce.
The Kaczynskis are lucky to be the laughing stock of Europe, because if any
government took them seriously they'd start drafting similar laws to kick sick
Poles out of doctors' waiting rooms and hospitals.

I sometimes - quite regularly these days, actually - get the impression that
the umm... leaders of this country don't have a clue about what part of the
world they are in or even which planet they are on.

As far as what it means to be in the EU as a partner state, you might as well
make a partner state out of a cat.

      Before you accuse Poland:
Deportation or non-admittance of sick individuals is not only pertinent in
Poland. For example, good old USA has been using such tactics for a long time.
Mandatory X-rays and AIDS testing for green card applicants are standard. If
you’re sick, your application is denied.
Simply said, a country has an obligation to do everything is can to protect its
      citizens. Same case with Poland.

Did you ever realise that many countries have been doing exactly same thing for
long time before Polish administration though about such policy? Personally, I
was, as milions of other Poles were testet for HIV before they were let to
      settle in US...

Come on, I don't believe that UK is not doing same thing. Do they let people
      who are HIV positive in?

        > Come on, I don't believe that UK is not doing same thing. Do they let people
        > who are HIV positive in?

OF COURSE THEY DO! przeciez the uk is well known worldwide as a top destination
for health tourism - i.e. walk right in and get treated for anything at the
expense of us (uk taxpayers). In some countries in Southern Africa, HIV rates
are around 30% or more; is it any surprise there has been a large increase in
immigration to the uk from those states over the past few years. the uk govt
simply doesn't have any concept of oszczedzania - i mean the UK debt as a
proportion of GDP is 42.2%, they spend more than a trillion dollars a year!
(stats from cia world factbook, 2006 figures). These people who arrive with
dieases are freeloaders, nothing more, nothing less.

          Strange, but true.

But the National Health Service is going to collapse anyway under the weight of
complete financial mismanagement by the current government, which has pumped
massive resources into consultants and IT systems instead of ensuring that
enough doctors and nurses are allowed to work in hospitals and health clinics.

Bizarrely, doctors are under orders to work less in order to reduce health care
spending. As a result, newly-built hospitals stand empty while hospital trusts
have to pay enormous interest rates to private developers (who built the
hospitals under public-private partnerships to ensure the spending doesn't
appear as "public debt" in Gordon Brown's beloved micro-managed accounts).
Gordon is a moron with no financial brains whatsoever.

Gordon is a moron. Gordon is a moron.
Gordon is a mo-ohro-on, Gordon is a moron.

            Love it!
