The Phenomenal Growth of Islam
At the end of this chapter, it may be appropriate to point out an important
indication of the truth of Islam. It is well known that in the USA and the
whole world, Islam is the fastest-growing religion. The following are some
observations on this phenomenon:

n “Islam is the fastest-growing religion in America, a guide and pillar of
stability for many of our people...” (Hillary Rodham Clinton, Los Angeles
Times).1

n “Moslems are the world’s fastest-growing group...” (The Population
Reference Bureau, USA Today).2

n “....Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the country.” (Geraldine
Baum; Newsday Religion Writer, Newsday).3

n “Islam, the fastest-growing religion in the United States...” (Ari L.
Goldman, New York Times).4

This phenomenon indicates that Islam is truly a religion from God. It is
unreasonable to think that so many Americans and people from different
countries have converted to Islam without careful consideration and deep
contemplation before concluding that Islam is true. These converts have
come from different countries, classes, races, and walks of life. They
include scientists, professors, philosophers, journalists, politicians,
actors, and athletes. (To read the stories of people who have converted to
Islam, please visit the links at Stories of New Muslims.)

The points mentioned in this chapter constitute only some of the evidence
supporting the belief that the Quran is the literal word of God, that
Muhammad is truly a prophet sent by God, and that Islam is truly a religion
from God.

      New Type of Antisemitism Danger

Prof. Yehuda Bauer, Academic Advisor to Yad Vashem

The global wave of antisemitism since 1999-2000 is the fourth since 1945. Each
wave was more serious than the preceding one, and the present wave is more all-
encompassing and dangerous than all the others. In the Western world it finds
expression in a steep increase in antisemitic violence, though most, if not
all of it, has to be attributed to Arab and Moslem elements in Western
countries, against the background, so it seems, of the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict. More worrisome is the growing animosity to Israel – not necessarily
as the expression of criticism, in itself legitimate of any government,
including that of Israel, but as an enmity to the existence of Israel as an
independent Jewish State. This latter kind of antisemitism can be found in the
mass media and is expressed by intelligentsia, religious functionaries,
journalists, academics, etc. (and, apparently, not so much among broader
segments of the population). However, the increase in the vehemence of violent
antisemitic propaganda in the Moslem world is much more dangerous. It finds
expression among Islamicist (“fundamentalist”) propagandists who see the
struggle against “Jews and Crusaders” (i.e. Christians, mainly Americans) as
their main mission. Yet, it is not these people only that devote themselves to
this extremist propaganda. Also the mainstream voices in Arab, and in part in
the non-Arab Moslem countries, have become purveyors of radical anti-Jewish
propaganda. This is true in the main – but not exclusively – for Egypt and
Saudi Arabia; government-sponsored or controlled newspapers write in the
language of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and revive the ‘blood libel’
in ‘Stürmer’ fashion. As there are hardly any Jews in all these places,
attention is directed mainly to the dangers evident in the West; but the main
danger comes, first and foremost, from the Moslem world. The sources of this
phenomenon are in dispute. The bitter Israeli-Palestinian struggle doubtlessly
has a major impact, but it may well be that it is but a trigger to other, more
profound factors: the impact of European antisemitism and the growth of
Islamicist ideology against the background of an economic-social-political
malaise reviving old anti-Jewish images embedded in Moslem culture. There are,
it is true, contrary voices of moderate Moslems who oppose antisemitism, and
one should appreciate their courage and encourage such phenomena, but
unfortunately they are swallowed by the overwhelming enmity around them.
Nazism, Stalinist communism, and radical Islam are, to be sure, different from
each other, but they also have a certain similarity: all three aim, or aimed,
at exclusive control over the world, all three oppose or opposed all
expressions of democracy, and all three attacked Jews, though in different
ways and with different grades of extremism. Contemporary Islamism expressly
uses genocidal language regarding Jews, and we have learned to take express
statements of intent by enemies seriously. The struggle against these forces
of hatred is not a Jewish struggle alone. It is a struggle in which all people
who oppose prejudice and irrational behavior must take part.
