"Always on" jest poprawne tylko, ze nikt tak nie mowi, hehehe. Ponadto ten zwrot
brzmi bardzo biednie. Angolami mi tu w oczy nie swiec natomiast, bo jeszcze nie
tak dawno limeys byli zaraz przed murzynami w internecie. Jeszcze nie tak dawno
doskakiwali do providera, odbierali szybko poczte i spadali czym predzej zeby
nie bulic uszami, hehehe. A ten mi tu poleca jakis fajans. Pisz jak cos wiesz, a
nie jak ci sie zdaje, bo ludziom glowe zawracasz.

      broadband
      • u-boot_88 Re: stałe łącze po angielsku 17.11.04, 16:06
Broadband is one of the types of fixed connections - the fastes and most
        efficient one.

... c'mon - who's using skinny frame relay or ISDN these days?
          • Gość: as Really? IP: *.dsl.emhril.ameritech.net 19.11.04, 20:52
Frame relay is a high-performance WAN protocol that operates at the physical and
data link layers of the OSI reference model.

ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, is a system of digital
            phone connections.

            Apples and oranges.

In colloquial speech. Alternatively: high speed.

      Better use "static IP"
some broadbands could be dynamic IP, and as such, could be disconnected for
      time to time, during recycling.

oh come on man - this is english forum not tech-talk. Beside of it you're wrong.

I dont want to go into detailes but in present days most of any fixed internet
connections use dynamic addressing(shortage of no# IPs). Static IP is use for
WEB hosting - and so on..and on.
bottom line is how to translate 'stale lacze' fixed connection, always on
conn., in common usage is just 'hi-speed internet'
        regards tomek
        • jagienkaa Re: stałe łącze po angielsku 18.11.04, 14:53
I live in the UK and people always say 'broadband'...so it depends what context
you want to use it in.

Zagapilem sie ta tekst gamonia, ktorego cytowales. Sorry cie, zgadzam sie z tym
              co piszesz oprocz jednego:

              "Static IP is use for
WEB hosting - and so on..and on."

Tez. A poza tym to static IP jest used wszedzie tam gdzie static IP jest
potrzebny, a nie tylko z web hosting (nie wrzeszcz). IP jest duuuuzo starszy niz
              web.

Jesli chodzi ci o potoczne uzycie, bez wdawania sie w techno-talk, uzywaj
      jednego lub drugiego.
      • Gość: ww Re: Broadband lub high/hi speed IP: 207.188.108.* 19.11.04, 20:20
One could have high speed (broadband) connection wich is not "fixed"
or "static", and as such, some of the services (ftp transfer, mail server,
        e.t.c.)would be not there.
It is always better to be precise in official correspondence, so use
        word "permanent" or "static".
Young fellas could have some language skills, but in most cases there is no
knowlege, or vocabulary behind, to support their claims of infinite wisdom.
In common talk, there is no difference - very seldom a residential (private)
customer will request permanent or static connection, as the charges for such
luxury are stiff, and most folks could not distinquish in between these anyway.
        • Gość: as Re: Broadband lub high/hi speed IP: *.dsl.emhril.ameritech.net 19.11.04, 21:09
          What he said!

Here in the States an individual customer will request a broadband service (as
opposed to dial-up) and more often he's going to use the specific type of
connection: cable or DSL service, etc.

Fixed or static connection is a technical/network term I never hear outside of
          my work.
    • ineess Re: stałe łącze po angielsku 19.11.04, 21:10
A może stałe łącze w sensie stały dostęp - permanent access - jak niżej ;)

"Broadband offers permanent access at up to ten times the speed of a normal
      modem"
