To niestety za malo :-) Chodzi mi o bardziej "aktywna" forme :-) Czyzby nie
bylo innej mozliwosci? Nikt tego nie robi?

To jest bardzo dobre cwiczenie, sluchanie BBC i powtarzanie za speakerem,
tudziez za kaseta.

Tak tez sie uczy fonetyki na uniwerkach w laboratoriach, w ktorych czasem
sprzet jest dostepny, tzn, ze slyszysz sie na sluchawkach. Takie lekcje sa
piekielnie nudne i a jednych dzialaja na innych nie.

Mozesz sie po prostu nagrywac na kasete i porownywac z oryginalem.

Co do lekcji na uniwerkach, niektorzy faktycznie czegos sie ucza, a inni sa
wytresowani na wycwiczone frazy, ale ich akcent poza nimi pozostawia wiele do
zyczenia.

Ja np. nauczylam sie akcentu wlasnie z TV, tak, ze Amerykanie uznaja moj
akcent za amerykanski. W liceum nauczycielka z angola kazala nam ogladac
wiadomosci, a potem je prezentowalismy i dyskutowalismy, i w ten sposob,
regularnie ogladajac TV, i powtarzajac ustna wypowiedz speakera mozna nauczyc
sie odpowiedniej wymowy. Trzeba jedynie checi i sluchu ( a jak tych zabraknie
to zadne laboratorium jezykowe, native i inne cuda nie dopomoga)

Where in Warsaw you can learn best English accent? I think that you can learn
it in local pubs. You have couple of beers, you keep in your mouth some peanuts
and you should try express your fillings to British looking neighbor.

I must agree,
but it's just a part of practice as while havinng coverstaions with the Brites
you can listen to the genuine accent, and they can be a prefect example to
follow. However, British people won't tell you exactlu what you're doing
wrong, and they're gonna maintain that your English is perfect.

And this is my problem. My English is not bad and I feel that as long as they
understand me and can communicate with me easily they do not correct my
mistakes. I have never attended any classes and all my life I have been
learning by listening so no doubt there is still a place for some improvement :-
) I do not care that much about my vocabulary or grammar but I do care about my
pronunciation and I would like to do something about it. BBC is not a bad idea
and I believe it works although the “procedure” you described is quite
complicated. Are there any tapes on the market that can be used instead?
Anybody in Warsaw delivers that kind of “training”?

Any tape with good English will do. These can be listening comprehension
exercises included in any course, or you can record some BBC porograms on a
tape and repeat.

You say that you don't care about you vocaburlary or grammar but you do care
about you accent? Unless you want to be taken for a native speaker for some
reason you should think exactly the opposite. It's much better to be able to
express yourself in a grammaticly correct way, vast vocabulary would help you
as well. Whatever you can say , even with perfect accent will still sound silly
if you make grammatical mistakes, don't you think? Having a little bit of accent
will not hinder you communication skills but poor vocabulary will.
PS. do you want to become a spy, or do you want to try pick up girls pretendig
that you are an Englishman, ( remember : gentleman will walk but never run :)))

I think the best method for improving your accent is listening the BBC or CNN.
But it is also possible to buy tapes from the English course. The best place
for meeting native -speakers is the British Council where a lot of English or
foreigners come each day. Special courses are organised in English in the
British Council.

Hi Ksena.
Your suggestion seems to be far away from the reality.The best accent and a
proper pronounciation you can lern in a real life. Warsaw pub located nearby
hotel may be the best place for the training. particularly, with a glass of the
real Irish Ale and the full mouth of peanuts.
