Vatican gets tough about cross, Pope and Jesus name use
In an effort to protect its reputation, Vatican has
threatened to sue any company using Pope and Jesus
name or cross in movies on or TV without first getting
approval for the script.
Vatican attorney's office said it would take legal action to
protect its "intellectual property rights" as it expects to be
"treated just like Coca-Cola" or any other big trademark
name. The reason, according to a report in The Telegraph,
is to force the entertainment industry to drop the image of
the bad priest who either screw boys, takes money on the
side or drinks too much. Vatican has said it is tired of
seeing its image damaged by negative fictional portrayals.
