Gość: mik Re: do reptara o Buddy'm Holly IP: *.nwrk.east.verizon.net 30.06.03, 05:26 witaj juna przepraszam ze zamiast reptara znalazlem jeszcze kilka podobnych recenzji czytelnikow czy raczej Ci przetlumaczyc? pozdrawiam autor Denton Bradley I HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE VIRTUES OF THIS NOVEL WITHOUT REVEALING TOO MUCH OF THE CONTENT. DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE WHOLE BOOK FOR YOU. About two years ago I was browsing through a bookstore in Mobile, Alabama when I came across a paperback entitled "Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede". I had to buy and read this book--how could I not with such a title. Little did I know at the time, this would become one most interesting and enjoyable novels I have ever read. Bradley Denton wrote, “Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede”. Somehow, he is able to masterfully blend Rock n' Roll, Sci-Fi, and a great deal of humor to effectively examine American culture past and present. Can music save your mortal soul? Will rock and roll never die? Good questions all--but who knows the answer? The main character of the novel is Oliver Vale. We follow him in a crazy motorcycle chase across the southern mid-west as a gang, a secret agent, a robotic Doberman pursues him, and aliens disguised as humans. It is a wild ride which all begins when every television worldwide begins broadcasting Buddy Holly 24 hours a day. The broadcast is coming straight from Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter, where Buddy Holly is apparently living--alive and well. What unfolds is a wildly funny and unique story line that will keep you turning page after page. Anyone who has been alive for the past 30-40 years and has a good sense of the events of the last part of the 20th century will be able to relate to the themes and premise of the story. Oliver’s wild ride is really not unlike the events of our own lives over the years and our experiences with finding and shaping America. The references to Rock n’ Roll, a story in America’ heartland, the freedom that comes with riding a motorcycle— all of this guides us along during the story and begins a self examination of life. Where we have been, where we are, and where we may be heading. So do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this novel. You will have a great time and probably be yearning to read Denton Bradley’s other works. Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
