Sept 28 : Flight – Nairobi
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by
Africapoint Staff and transferred to the Nairobi Safari Club. Dinner on your
own. Overnight at the hotel.
Sept 29: Arusha - Moshi
Pick up from Hotel by shuttle bus. Arrive Arusha in time for lunch time.
After lunch,drive from Arusha to Moshi, at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Dinner
and overnight at Springland Hotel or similar
Sept 30: Marangu Gate - Mandara Hut
You make an early start with a drive to Marangu gate. Begin trek in the
morning through the rain forest for 3-4 hours to Mandara Hut (2700 metres).

Oct 01: Mandara Hut - Horombo Hut
After breakfast, leave the glades of the rain forest and continue trekking
past the Maundi Crater into open rolling moorland. The trek takes about 5-6
hours to Horombo Hut (3720 m) for overnight.

Oct 02: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut
After a good nights rest, trek past the last water point to reach Kibo
saddle, a broad desert zone between the two peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. Kibo
Hut (4725m) is reached in 5-6 hours.

Oct 03: Kibo Hut - Uhuru Peak - Horombo Hut
The start for the summit is made just after midnight. The steepest part of
the route is to Gillman's point (5700m), which takes 5-6 hours. Another 90
minutes of groveling through the snow and you are at Uhuru Peak (5895m) - the
highest point in Africa! After taking a few photos to record your
achievement, commence the descent taking about 5-6 hours to reach Horombo
Hut.

Oct 04: Horombo Hut - Marangu Gate-Moshi
The day is spent descending to the Marangu, where you will be met and
transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day congratulating yourself
and relaxing after the strenuous trek.

Oct 05: Moshi - Arusha
After breakfast, drive to Arusha. Lunch at Impala Hotel. Afternoon
relaxation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Oct 06: Arusha - Ngorongoro
Lunch will be served at Impala Hotel, Arusha, at 1200 hrs. You thereafter
depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area at 1400 hrs. You arrive in time for
dinner at the lodge. The lodge sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater from
where you get awesome views of the collapsed volcano. Dinner and overnight

Oct 07: Ngorongoro
After breakfast you depart for a a full day morning tour of the crater at
0800 hrs. The drive commences with the 600 m descent to the crater floor, a
magnificent natural amphitheatre. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is an
attraction in its own right and is one of the wonders of the natural world.
The crater supports a year round resident population of a variety of
wildlife. You will have no trouble spotting lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo
and many species of plain animals- wildebeest, zebra, reedbuck, Thompson
gazelle and many more. You will have packed picnic lunch on the crater floor.

Oct 08: Serengeti
After breakfast, depart at 0800 hrs for Serengeti National Park passing via
Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge is the prehistoric site where Dr. Louis Leakey
discovered the remains of Homo habilis (“Handy man”) regarded as mankind’s
first step on the path of human evolution. You arrive in time for lunch at
1200 hrs at your lodge.
1500 hrs- you go for an evening game drive in the park. The Serengeti is
probably the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Within its 15,000
sq km area it hosts 3 million large mammals. More than 35 species of plain
animals- zebra, wildebeest, eland, giraffe, and others are found here. And so
for the big five: elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. The park is the
staging zone for one the most spectacular events in the natural world- the
annual migration of wildebeest. This commences around June when over 1
million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle head for the Maasai Mara in Kenya in
search of pasture. They are followed closely by the predators of the savanna-
lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. The Serengeti also has
over 500 species of birds. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge

You dedicate this day to Serengeti and take a morning and an afternoon game
drive.

Oct 10: Lake Manyara
After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park to arrive in time for
lunch at your lodge. 1500 hrs- you go for an evening game drive in Lake
Manyara National Park. The park covers 330 sq. km, 70% of which is occupied
by the lake. The varied ecosystem consists of ground water forests, acacia
woodland and open grassland along the lakeshore and sustains a wealth of
wildlife, including the Big Five -lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo.
The park is famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions that inhabit the
woodland between the lake and the Rift Valley. It is also an ornithologists’
paradise and is host to over 400 species of birds.
You will spend the night at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. The lodge is perched
on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment and has great views of the Great
Rift Valley and Lake Manyara itself. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara

Oct 11: Lake Manyara - Arusha
0800 hrs- Drive to Arusha to arrive for lunch at Impala Hotel at 1200 hrs.
After lunch, transfer to the airport for flight to Zanzibar. On arrival in
Zanzibar you will be met by our representative and transferred to Zanzibar
Beach Resort.
Zanzibar Beach Resort overlooks the Indian Ocean, and is situated just five
minutes from Zanzibar Airport and ten minutes from Stone Town. It is renowned
for its high standard of service. All en suite, sea-facing, rooms have
individually controlled air-conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, telephone
and a balcony. Other guest facilities include two restaurants, three bars, a
swimming pool, health club, squash court, tennis court and pool tables. The
hotel also has two conference rooms.

Oct 12: Stone Town Tour
After breakfast you will be commence on the Stone Town tour. The 2-hour tour
will take you to the most scenic parts of the Old Town. This is the cultural
heart of Zanzibar. Our guides are experienced and very well conversant with
the rich history of the Island. The Old Town oozes magic and mystery and
shafts and sharp light joust with deep shadows creating a fascinating world
in the narrow streets.
UNESCO has recently declared Stone Town as one of the world’s historic
cities, and it’s now a protected area in Zanzibar. The tour takes you to the
former site of the slave market; the cathedral (Cathedral Church of Christ)
built in its site in 1874, the Sultan’s palace and more. Relax at leisure at
the beach side.

Oct 13: Zanzibar – Spice Tour - Jozani Forest
After breakfast pick up from hotel and depart for the Spice Tour.
For much of the year the scent of cloves is carried in the breezes from the
clove buds drying the sun on road reside mats. The Spice Island as it is
affectionately called has over forty of the most valuable tropical aromatic
plants that were introduced over the last two centuries by the Oman Arabs.
The spices are grown in the spice grades in the hills north of Stone Town.
