Rospuda - Brussels taking charge?

21.03.07, 11:46
Should Poland take an EU-funded ecologically more acceptable alternative or
pay out of its own pocket for a shorter route ploughing through land of
extreme natural importance?

Is that what it all boils down to? I have problems seeing through all the
propaganda and misinformation.

That is exactly what the propaganda does. All this hustle and bustle about the
valley is only to confuse the simple minds of the crowd. And behind a
smokescreen of benevolence and love for nature hides a pure egoism of any
      prospective profits of some individuals.
No one really cares of those marshy lands more than to take advantages of it to
their own purposes. And they call themselves ecologists...sounds sublimely but
      not quite serious.

I care. These are the last wild wetlands not just of Poland but of Europe as a
whole, and I never had any trouble driving to Lithuania on the existing road. I
don't care if it takes 5 hours to get to Kaunas instead of 4, I really don't. I
do care if my kids will look at the bittern and the ruff in the way we look at
        the dodo.
