Gość: wacko jacko Re: translation IP: *.nyc.rr.com 24.04.03, 17:04 to serve one's country is not accurate. One can serve his country in more than one capacity. "To serve in the armed forces", " to join the army", etc. Instead of "well lighted" you can use "well illuminated". "Hand written application" is not bad. How about "hand written petition". This is what I mean: 1. odrecznie napisane podanie - What do you mean, is it job application? if yes, odrecznie -doesn't matter, RESUME or CV (CURRICULUM VITAE)is the name of it. Podanie do urzedu? - in this case it is called APPLICATION, nobody cares whether it is hand written or not. 2. dobrze oswietlony - is it room, house? if yes, you can say it is SUNNY, FULL OF LIGHT, WELL LIT. 3.odbywac sluzbe wojskowa - there is no compulsory army service, therefore English speaking people will have a great deal of difficulty to understand what you mean. They have army service which is full-time and paid for, officers, soldiers or army reserve - part-time, people who serve in army reserves but have other jobs.SERVE IN THE ARMY would be probably the closest.
