Oludeniz Resort (****) - Oludeniz

19.04.05, 10:35
The hotel is only approx 50 mtrs from the beach & the local shops.
The Hotel is kept spotless & the meals are all Buffet style, with loads of
choice & variety. There is a choice of 2 wines which are free at meal times,
all bottles are chargable. You can bring a drink from the poolside bar to
your table but still only the 2 wines to choose from, Cocktails are also
chargable & the only spirits that are "free" are the local Vodka, Gin or
Brandy the rest are chargable (mixers are free) The selection we found to be
very poor as an All Inclusive hotel.

The pool was on the small side for the size of hotel but there is a seperate
pool for the very small children. More than enough sunbeds are available but
they are very tightly laid out & the best ones are taken early in the morning.

Tea, Coffee & soft drinks are available all day in the olive garden next to
the pool but NOT in the restaurant at lunch or dinner. Ice cream, fruit &
snacks available most of the day.

We found the room we were allocated very small & as it was called a Family
room I would like to see them install a 3rd/4th bed, we did complain to the
reception & were moved after a couple of days to a larger & more comfortable
room, We spoke to several couples & they all had the same opinion "the rooms
are too small".

Make sure you take all your emergency medical stuff such as Diacalm etc. As
you cannot by these items anywhere except the pharmacy & is a very long walk
to get there.

You can save loads of money by purchasing trips/excursions from the local
outlets in the village & not the tour operator. We went out of season & you
can barter the prices down on everything/anything.

When on the sea front keep one eye open for paragliders landing all the time
from all directions you cant hear them they just appear.

Olu Deniz Resort Hotel was excellent! Our party consisted of a varied age
group, and all enjoyed this Hotel. It was great for the young kids, as the
pool was great and they really enjoyed the kids club, and the entertainment at
night was also very good. The hotel staff were very nice and very helpful.
Hotel was vey clean, and although we had read reports of the rooms being too
small..we were more than satisfied with the accomodation. The food was great,
always something for everyone, very well presented and always topped up no
matter how late you went for the meal. The resort itself was nice, clean and
friendly! Would recconmend this hotel to anyone!

What can i say.........We returned this year for 2 weeks, after staying there
last year, and it was fantastic.

We were greeted like old friends, Mustafa came runnning over as soon as we
stepped onto the terrace soon after we arrived at 9.30pm, we were told to go
get something to eat before we checked in as the restaurant closed at 10pm,
      which was well appreciated.

The hotel had had a bit of a facelift during the winter, everywhere was freshly
painted and still spotless as ever. The staff were as freindly as ever, and it
was good to see so many of them still working there. Full marks again to the
entertainment crew, Anil,Al & Tom were brilliant as ever.
I celebrated my birthday while we were there, and the waiters alll came out
with a cake singing happy birthday, the cake was supposed to have been a small
one, but was HUGE.......... the bar staff soon demolished it anyway.

Will certainly book again next year, i can understand why so many go back year
after year, while we were there, Tom told us there were about 60 guests staying
who had been before, now i can honestly say, been there, done that and GOT A
      TSHIRT !!!!!
WELL DONE TO ALL THE TEAM AT THE OLUDENIZ RESORT HOTEL, SEE YOU NEXT YEAR xxx
ps, they read these you know !!

This was one of the best holidays we have had as a family. The resort is lovely
with a variety of thing to do and places to visit.

The hotel is set against a beautiful mountain back drop, with only a few
minutes walk to the sea and shops of Olu Deniz. The sea here sheves very quickly
and the surf is quite strong and stoney. But the water is a beautiful colour
and very warm.Theres even a soft drinks machine on the beach and they bring
      down biscuits every afternoon!!
The hotel also provides a bus service to Sutari beach.Which is a part of the
lagoon. Great for snorkling, and they provide free sunbeds!

The Hotel is fairly small, with beautiful gardens. We had a family room which was
very large, and the maid service was excellent. The pool area is lovely but
could be bigger. But we always managed to get sunbeds etc.
All the staff are very friendly, and they go out of their way to make you feel
very welcome. The entertainment team, led by Anil are fantastic. They work very
very hard, and organise various activities for adults and children alike. But
they never pressure you if you dont want to join in.

We all enjoyed the food and felt it was of a high standard, they also provide a
variety of snacks throughout the day.
If you decide to go on any execursions, then i recommend that you pop down to
the town and book there as its cheaper than with the reps.We booked several and
got given a free trip to Fethiye market thrown in, great for bargins!!

Whilst your there, have a go at paragliding, its fantastic. We went with the
reaction team from the hotel. They were very professional, when your gliding
down from 6500ft, the views are fantastic and its very peaceful. I dont usually
like heights, but i felt very safe.

The trip to the Daylan mud baths is also a good day out.
Instead of doing the 12 islands trip with a company, we hired our own speed
boat for the day, great fun and very easy to drive. They give you a map of the
islands and you can do it yourself, much more fun. The kids loved it.
We also found that alot of places were happy to take English money, but dont
forget to barter, the kids were experts at it by the end of the holiday!

We will definately be returning to this hotel, something weve never wanted to
      do anywhere else.

Firstly, the setting: Sitting by the pool you have the stunning view of the
mountainside rising up above the hotel. I spotted mountain goats there one day.
Paragliders descending from the summit of the mountain are a regular sight.
About 1 minute from the hotel is the beach. More stunning scenery, crystal
clear water, usually cooler than the pool and never too crowded. Worth buying
aqua shoes to negotiate the pebbles. Do bear in mind that the water soon gets
deep. Buoys are used to cordon off a large area from any boats. The odd
parascender or microlite in the bay but mercifully free from the noise of jet
      skis.

And of course the lagoon. Half an hours walk or take the free shuttle bus from
the hotel to Suara Beach where the hotel has an allocation of sun beds. We
preferred the beach but I did make the effort to go to the lagoon early one
morning and had a swim in perfectly calm water with not a soul in sight.

The hotel staff: From the entertainers to the cleaners, the bar staff to the
chefs, there was a fantastic attitude; always ready to help, warm , friendly
and a sense of humour , (Al the entertainer's dry wit was particularly
appreciated and an Arsenal fan too!)

Our room: We were in one of the rooms above the main reception/restaurant
building. This had a double bed, bunk bed and more than enough space, including
a balcony as large as our room. Room kept spotlessly clean by a cheerful and
efficient maid. We looked out onto the back of the hotel, (the mountain) and
found this was quiet. A bit of traffic noise but none of the late night music
      from the pool.

Food: Excellent. We are mostly vegetarians and had no problems in this respect.
The choice of bread/pastries and mezes (cold salad dishes) was enough in itself
      let alone the main meals.
It is worth doing a fair bit of excercise during the day to justify a plate
full of the traditional Turkish desserts in the evening. Plenty of space to eat
either in the restaurant or on the terrace outside.

Entertainment: 10/10 for effort and enthusiasm from the team. Al's daily darts
was always worth a go and when I became adventurous enough to try the water
polo, Tom was touchingly concerned when he spotted me splashing about
desperately, swallowing half the pool water.
The evening shows were a mixed bag, always popular with the kids and performed
with real enthusiasm. Anil a very professional host with great sense of humour.

Although we booked all inclusive, we did feel the urge to venture out for a
couple of meals elsewhere. Of these we would particularly recommend 'Our
Place', a vegetarian restaurant up in Hisaronu.
We had originally been here back on our first visit to Turkey in 1989. At that
time there was barely anything else there. When we discovered the massive
sprawl of hotels and apartments that have now taken over the area, we at first
had little hope of 'Our Place' still being around.
To our delight we spotted it down a side street off of the main road of
shops/bars (by the Lemon Tree resaurant). Still run by Yusuf, a charming host
who greeted us almost as old friends of the family and had time to spend
teaching us backgammon as well as cooking a fine nut cutlet!
He now has a bar side pool and welcomes guests to come and hang out during the
      day time.

Trips: Would agree with other reviewers who advise shopping around for the best
deals. There are many operators in Olu Deniz, seemed like one in every 4 or 5
      shops.
We had a great trip to Tlos and Saklikent Gorge, including the 'not-to-be-
missed' Yaka trout farm for lunch, where they have a stream cut into the bar
with trout you can tickle whilst having a drink.
I also joined another guest for a day out in a hire car, exploring the same
area. This was an excellent way to keep ahead of the tour parties. There are a
number of stunning archaelogical sites such as Xanthos and Patara, south of
      Saklikent.

Horse riding was fun and good value (£10 for 2hrs riding)but also tiring, both
at the time and the day after.
Walking: The half day hiking trip was not being run (August) due to the heat.
However, I did discover a footpath up the mountain (Babadag) next to the hotel.
Just a little way up the coast road, (opposite entrance to the White Dolphin
Restaurant) are steps leading up with a sign stating Babadag 13km.
I had to explore. Up until 9am this side of the mountain is in shadow so not
too hot for walking. It is quite tough going in places; find a decent branch as
a walking stick plus strong footwear and long trousers to protect against the
gorse bushes. I managed to get up to about 1500-2000ft befoe I reached the top
of a gorge where the path became quite perilous. The path is very clearly
marked with green paint blobs or arrows every few feet.
The views make it well worth the effort, especially watching the morning sun
creep across the mountains and lagoon. You only have to venture up a little way
to get an excellent view of the bay and resort, looking down onto the hotel.

Hadn't intended to write this much but we really did enjoy it here and I hope
we make it back again one day.Would definatley return to this hotel.

Oludeniz to mała miejscowość - dużo barów,
          sklepów, deptak, fajna plaża.
Polecam! Kilkoro znajomych było tam i również wrócili zadowoleni.
          Hotel zasługuje na 3*, POLECAM.
