BLUR 'Showtime'

To jeden z moich prezentów gwiazdkowych.

Koncert zarejestrowany podczas trasy promującej 'Parklife'. Wydany dawno
temu, ja dopiero teraz położyłam na nim ręce, zawiesiłam oczy, czy jak to
się tam mówi. Zawiera repertuar z trzech pierwszych płyt zespołu, brakuje mi
tam tylko jednego z moich ulubionych 'For Tomorrow', a poza tym koncert
bezbłędny. Muzycy w wielkiej formie, Damon pajacuje po scenie, rzuca się w
tłum, skacze, żartuje i fantastycznie śpiewa. Żałuję tylko, że rzecz ta nie
doczekała się wydania na DVD, no i że w momencie, kiedy ja wybrałam się na
koncert Blur, nie było już z nimi Grahama...

Ech, zwykła kaseta video, a tyle radości...

No mi też przy okazji udało się obejrzeć ten koncert. Robi wrażenie atmosfera
panująca na widowni - po pierwsze to Anglia, po drugie sam środek britpopowego
szaleństwa. Repertuar ograniczony do pierwszych płyt, ale nie jest to jakimś
minusem jak dla mnie - Przecież na "Parklife" jest 16 co najmniej dobrych
utworów i zdecydowana większość tam się pojawiła... Muzyka jest żywa, radosna,
pełna energii... Z fajnych momentów - Albarn trafiony jajkiem albo Coxon
śpiewający za niego refren "There's No Other Way"...
Trochę inny to był zespół wtedy niż teraz, ale nie wiem czy nie bardziej mi
odpowiadający jednak...

Hmm, atmosfera, owszem, ja również chciałabym zobaczyć ten zespół w 1995 r., w
Anglii, to na pewno coś, co się nie wróci... Ale jeśli chodzi o repertuar, to
jednak fajnie na koncercie usłyszeć jeszcze 'Song
2', 'Tender', 'Beetlebum', 'Out Of Time'... Tylko ten Coxon, kurczę no!

A jest ktoś tu może z trójmiasta? Nie wiecie może gdzie tam można kupić tą
kasetę, z wielką chęcią bym ją obejrzała, ale coś czuję, że jednymy wyjściem
będzie wyjazd do Wawy, na ktory niestety nie moge sobie pozwolić

Spróbuj na vivid.pl, ostatnio widziałam, że można to tam zamówić, chyba za
ok.50zł. Ech, warto...

Ah, Showtime, classy gig footage, arguably at their peak (commercially or
creatively make your own choice). I prefer the StarShaped video, watching Blur
move on from the baggy shoegazing scene they never really fitted into, (how
they were ever labelled with the likes of Ride, My Bloody Valentine and
Chapterhouse when Damon and Graham tried to be spacemen, so much bouncing
around) and the Britpop sparking it's fuse to the future flame that was the
Oasis vs Blur battle. StarShaped showed the making of Blur, all that is missing
is a camera following them round charity shops to buy their blazers and jeans.
It also includes the highly comical early haircuts of them in the first 7
single videos, my favourite of which are the open mouth spaced out pleasure of
She's So High to the London scented black and white joy of For Tomorrow. I'm
lucky to have seen them around these tours for Modern Life Is Rubbish and Park
Life, and while I love them now, I think my heart for them beats better to
those days. One of the highlights of the live footage is when Damon pogos into
a stack of speakers, only for one to come crashing down on his ankle! and he
Tigger from Pooh bounced on ) I will dig my copy of StarShaped out early in
the new year and singalong ) There really is no other way, I don't think any
band from that period could have made a video as interesting in watching a band
evolving other than maybe Primal Scream. It is a huge part of the Blur legacy
and should be seen to confirm that Damon is magic and majestic and that boy
Coxon is sorely missed, come back soon Graham )

Ah, StarShaped... Am lucky enough to have put my hands on that tape as well.
Haven't watched it yet though, you gotta please yourself in doses
