Alternative News Taken Offline
Two sources of alternative news, Al-Jazeera and Yellowtimes, are currently
offline. It would seem that certain interested parties don't want us to get
our news from non-patriotic sources.
Yellowtimes , a purveyor of critical commentary on the US's middle eastern
foreign policy, was taken offline by its ISP yesterday.
Firas Al-Atraqchi reports at Scoop :
"Somebody doesn't like hearing the truth. Okay, for a second, lets scratch
that and choose a slightly less politically charged term. Someone doesn't
like to be disputed with alternative views, counterclaims, research and fact.
Someone wants you, the reading public, to only gather one-sided, monotone,
Orwellian dispatch. News the way they 'fashion' it. Or as CNN will have you
believe, the 'most reliable source for news.'"
The website of Al-Jazeera, the Arabic-language satellite news station which
has been singular in its broadcasting of the war's atrocities, was blocked by
hackers. Al-Jazeera's English language website , launched two days ago, has
also been hacked, with a denial-of-service attack.
