Tatras mountains - few questions

IP: *.netpark.pl / *.netpark.pl 29.07.05, 23:23
hello!

we're tourists from Italy, travelling 'round Poland. we would like to do some
hitch-hiking in Western and High Tatras and got few questions (hope it's a
good place to ask them, though ;)

- can we place tents next to youth hostels without any problems or additional
costs? if not, how much is it a room for, let's say, 4 ppl?

- what can you get in such a hostel? i mean food, can you easily buy things
like bread and dairy products?

- what are the prices in such hostels?

thx in advance for any help!

You mean "youth hostels" in the Tatras? In fact, they are mountain
huts/shelters. It's not allowed to sleep in tents because the whole Tatras are
National Park. You can place tents on a camping site in Zakopane.
One night in mountain hut costs ca. 25-32 PLN/person.

Food in form of breakfest or dinner :-) Loaf of bread - no.

      > - what are the prices in such hostels?
Bottle of mineral water, bar of chocolate etc. - two times higher than in
      Zakopane or other towns.
Dinners or other meals - 1,5 x higher than in Zakopane.

        Hi!

Let's take the oportunity to improve our English knowledge and try to correct
expressions which are incorrect. Don't think that I'm arrogant or something like
that I just want to improve my English.

"can we place tents next to youth hostels" - I think it should be "can we pitch
        tents next to youth hostels".

"to do some hitch-hiking in Western and High Tatras" - I think that the
expresion "hitch-hiking" does not suits well. I checked it in the dictionary and
it describes a person who travels by someone else's car - he for instance stands
next to the road and waves when car stops traveler asks if he may go with him.

If I made some errors correct me please :)

Regarding to pitching tents in mountains it's imposible in fact. You may do it
in the Zakopane and its countryside.
I have not been in Tatry mountains for several years but I'm going to go there
this year. I'll be hiking and sleeping in the mountain huts in a sleeping-bag -
I think that is the best solution becouse you don't need to waste your time in
order to come back to your accomodation place.

Have a nice trip in Poland

Hehe, daj spokój, ile błędów robią Polacy jak piszą po polsku, a co dopiero
          Włoch po ingliteriańsku :-)

Ale zobacz ten link: "pitch" jako rozbić, a "place" jako ustawić (w jakimś
              miejscu).

i didn't mean camping in the middle of the forest or wherever, it's forbidden to
camp in national parks in other countries as well. but in most of the i've never
had any problem to place our tents right next to a hostel/hut/whatever,
sometimes for free, sometimes for a small fee so we could use lavatory. is that
        really forbidden here?
