Re:action is a website and installation which uses screen based contemporary
dance to infuse new media art with the qualities of performance. As the
audience journeys through the website their actions directly affect both the
website and installation, by collectively determining the editing of a dance
film: altering what viewers of the installation see. The work is constantly
remade, as each new website user interacts with it in a different way. The
decisions that control the dancers on screen are being made as the viewer
watches, but they are being made by members of the website audience, not the
dancers themselves.
Re:action is a collaboration between new media artist Ed Holroyd,
collaborative arts company Eshoda Arts, and filmmakers Chris Kemp and Sara
Strickland.
Following a period of filming at Spike Island, the artists involved in
Re:action will be resident at the Watershed from 4th - 6th November to test
the beta version of the website and installation. You are invited to join
them on Wednesday 5th November from 6 - 9pm to view the work in progress,
test the website and give your feedback.
