B16 road clogs

22.05.06, 18:03
As you are aware, Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting Poland this week.
While the event is extremely important, it may also present some traffic
problems as some routes will be closed to the public.

To check whether this will affect you and your business, please see the
detailed programme of the visit: www.b16.pl/program/265,program.html

For traffic changes
in Warsaw see: www.policja.pl/index.php?dzial=112&id=1882
in Krakow see: www.malopolska.policja.gov.pl/benedykt_xvi.php

Enjoy your queues, and if it helps, just think of them as a penance.

After all, those graven images aren't going to worship themselves...
It also provides lots of work for bouncers, spies, traffic cops, pickpockets
      and AWAC pilots.

But all the government workers will just be spending the day lounging around on
        their arses!

        Shocked, I tell you.

I was just wondering how people will have to get to the airport on Thursday
morning if they will close the only access road hours in advance?
          By foot?
And I have to go to work by ul. Krakowska - where all traffic will be heading.
          Great prospects smile
BTW I do not think our friend Giertych made himself very popular with the
majority of Polish parents by giving a day off for all pupils and students.
Here at work the general comment was "Will we also get a day off to care for our
          kids?"

Only the infidel would want to leave while Benny's in town.
But in case of emergencies their omnipresent and omnipotent god will be able to
            help. Somehow.

I do not think my boss will appreciate it if I phone him and tell him that "the
pope has kept me in Warsaw". We logistics guys are rather down-to-earth and
heavenly visitors are no reason to stay at home smile

Well if you're in logistics, you should see it as a challenge.
You might have to leave home at 2 am, or sleep in a tent outside the office,
but when you arrive at work 5 minutes early and say, "Hey, I know the city's
closed down, but after all, I am a logistician and I've got a pencil," it's
                instant promotion smile

Well, tell em your off to see your mothers, since it is mothers day on the 26th.

Maggie, my mother lives near Antwerp, Belgium. A bit far - but good you reminded
me. There is always the phone smile
Ian, I already have to get up everyday at 05.30... but 02.00 am is a bit too
                    early...

Come on any excuse for a trip to Belgium, even the B16 excuse is good enough! smile

Belgium is a truly great place to live in - I'll mention it to the Pope when I
see him next. And the beer's excellent - although they are apparently trying
to keep him on the wagon.

The Government is very keen on giving free days for this and that, but what
they have yet to understand is that these employees don't belong to them. They
are doing those jobs on trust for the public, which includes themselves, of
course, but also all the people working in the private sector also.

When the government workers get a day off and private business doesn't, that is
unfair, and when private employers are forced to give free days, which
sometimes happens also in this country, such a during the mourning period for
one person who died last year, because everyone was sad, because its not like
he went to heaven or anything, then what they are doing is taking an extra tax
on business, just because they can.

We in business are working to create wealth. Nobody in government can do that,
all they can do is tell us how to spend our money, and ensure a large amount of
            it is on them.

It is all a big con. Civilisation arose at levels of tax much greater than
those levied today, and at the levels we have today, western civilisation seems
set fair to disappear up its own arsehole.

And don't forget that Benedict XVI has been dead these last 507 years ...
