ejmarkow Re: chat 02.06.06, 21:48 Maggie, Sounds like a nice idea, a live chat on the forum map. Let me know when you have time. Odpowiedz Link
ejmarkow Re: chat 11.06.06, 21:52 If you wish to chat, almost every evening after 9:00 pm, I keep an open channel on MIRC (www.mirc.com)called "expat-pl". It is on the "Undernet" server, and my nick in "Gienek". Everyone welcome and I hope to see someone there. Based on past possible meetings for individuals on this forum, I have my doubts. ejmarkow Re: chat 12.06.06, 11:56 Another reminder, one of hundreds to come, if allowed here. Download for free, the program "MIRC" (Version 6.17) in the language of your choice from: www.mirc.com In the options menu, give yourself a 'nick' and 'alternative nick'. Set the 'server' connection for 'Undernet', then once you connect, go to the "expat- pl" channel. MIRC was the first chat client on the internet, and is still the most popular and effective one today. It's hierarchy of controls, checks and balances is unsurpassable. Everyday, from 9:00 pm to about 11:00 pm, I am there, under the nick 'Gienek'. I usually reconcile my daily trading activites during that time (on weekends and holidays, I don't trade), so I have some spare time for reading the daily news, posting comments on the FLIP forum, and of course, chatting live on the various channels available on MIRC. What is IRC? 'IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat". It was originally written by Jarkko Oikarinen in 1988. Since starting in Finland, it has been used in over 60 countries around the world. IRC is a multi-user chat system, where people meet on "channels" (rooms, virtual places, usually with a certain topic of conversation) to talk in groups, or privately. There is no restriction to the number of people that can participate in a given discussion, or the number of channels that can be formed on IRC.' What is MIRC? 'mIRC is a shareware IRC client for Windows. It is developed and copyrighted by Khaled Mardam-Bey. mIRC is a highly configurable IRC client with all the goodies other clients on UNIX, Macintosh and even on windows offer, combined with a *nice* and clean user interface. mIRC offers full color text lines, DCC File Send and Get capabilities, programmable aliases, a remote commands and events handler, place sensitive popup menu's, a great Switchbar, World Wide Web and sound support, and... a lot more. mIRC is shareware but not crippled in any way...' Why am I pushing for a live chat in addition to this excellent forum? Because many individuals are interested in such a medium, and every once in a while there is just no substitute for chatting live.
