Giertych = decent chap!

No, of course he isn't!! He's a fascist ...

However, he's talked far more sense about education recently than I've heard
in a long time.
Kick out the trouble-makers and instill some discipline, and possibly a
simple uniform (though NOT blazers and ties, thank you very much) - a school
sweatshirt would do the trick.

He wants to legislate against aggression in young people, the buffoon.
Teenagers are naturally excitable, emotionally unstable and aggressive. Most of
them calm down when they grow up, but the only way to stop teenagers from being
aggressive is to make them happy. Or drug them, which would probably be cheaper.

A kid who's bored and causes trouble at 13 has usually stopped by 18. But
children who are excluded from mainstream society will never be able to fit
into that society when they grow up. Folk that are raised in children's homes,
young offenders' institutions and prisons are far more maladjusted, antisocial
and dangerous to mainstream society (i.e. me) than folk that aren't.
Isolate troublemakers within their school, ignore the attention-seeking wee
buggers, punish them if they step over the line, but don't write off people's
futures on the basis of their behaviour as children.

As for uniforms, they should have a competition to design them.

As long as they have brown shirts, that's the main thing.

The problem with adults spouting off about school is their experience is always
          years out of date.
My last year of teaching in a state school was 1997, so I'm not quite up with
it either BUT, as part of a team of Year 10 (4th year) tutors I spent an
inordinate amount of time unsuccessfully dealing with the crap dealt out by 5%
          of the year group.
In number terms, it boiled down to 10 disturbed teenagers seriously damaging
the quality of learning and life of the 200 others. The social problems of
these children were severe and essentially utterly unresolved - the only result
of the school system's catastrophic failure to address these problems was that
other kids suffered physically, emotionally and educationally. Another
unquantifiable is teacher stress - teachers seldom make it to retirement age,
          language teachers almost never.
The troubled teenager is taught that everything is OK, and continues to behave
unacceptably after leaving school. Normal kids suffer and teachers suffer - but
complete systemic failure is perfectly acceptable as long as no-one
          gets "labelled" (oh shock horror!).
