gfunkallstars Re: Architecture.... 16.07.07, 21:56 Of course there are lovely and impressive buildings here. Even in Warsaw which most people slag off as being grey and concrete there are some gems! It's true that a lot of old buildings are neglected but some are still beautiful and some soon will be (www.chlodna20.wordpress.com) some of my favourites(in no particular order) Szare domy (Rakowiecka/Akacjowa) Śniadeckich 10 Chłodna 20 Hoża 41 zbiorniki gazu on Prądzinskiego the whole of Kolonia Druckiego/Lubeckiego and Staszica (Stara Ochota) Plac Inwalidów (as a whole) Mickiewicza 34/36 (glass house/Feniks) Plac Słoneczny (Żoliborz) The PKO development in Miasteczko Wilanów Warsaw Financial Centre (corner of Emili Plater) Odpowiedz Link
ql Re: Architecture.... 17.07.07, 00:06 And what about other places? Upper Silesia? Modernistic architecture? Odpowiedz Link
gfunkallstars Re: Architecture.... 17.07.07, 00:29 I don't know Upper Silesia although I've seen photos of interesting, modernistic buildings there. 2 of the buildings i mentioned in my previous post are fine examples (in my opinion) of modernism - the Feniks building in particular. The same architect (Juliusz Żórawski) designed a few other lovely buildings in Warsaw such as Dom Wedla on Madalinskiego (a real treasure. I'm afraid I can't really comment in detail on other cities in Poland but in Warsaw I like the buildings by Juliusz Zórawski, Romuald Gutt and Bohdan Pniewski. Odpowiedz Link
