Mass immigration planned for Poland

18.07.07, 14:08
I hope everyone's happy at the govt's plan for virtually unrestricted
immigration from Third World countries.
PiS has China and India in mind, in particular.

I'm for it as long as the newcommers would leave after building those highways
and whatever else they are needed for.

I'm sure some would stay which is fine. Most of those willing to overstay would
probably seek employment futher west (Schengen zone expends this January, righ?)
With some help of smart legislation (no amnesty and solid deportation procedure)
we should nevertheless benefit. Poland would have a chance to lick some multi
culti tolerance and many would realize they are racists (me? ironic?)
Overall when highways are done, national stadium is empty and Euro 2012 a hisotry
we would be back to our white, catholics 99.0% statistics data.

and what's your view on economic immigration and it's effect on Poland,
            longinharden ?
            • longinharden Re: Mass immigration planned for Poland 19.07.07, 00:32
With Poland's already huge population and steep unemployment, they sure need it
like a hole in the head.

Some days ago Mr. Kaczynski expressed his regret that due to WWII there are
only 40 million Poles and not 60 like there would be without the war.

By the way, on this background Mr. Kaczynski reasoned that Poland should have
influence in the EU corresponding to 60 million hypothetical inhabitants.

About unemployment: in my opinion most of the people presently unemployed are
not fit for today’s job market. Unskilled workers with a mental heritage from
the People’s Republic do not have the qualifications required from a
competitive job market. They should just get a pension check once a month or
they will need heavy retraining, which will be much more expensive than a
pension. We need Asian taxpayers to pay that bill.

Poland needs Punjabi soccer commentators, Chinese rickshaw drivers and the
quintessential Bollywood for quality fun and entertainment.

hardenfelt, you characterise Poland's unemployed in such a way as to make me
think that you believe Poland's unemployed are old people. I admit i don't have
the relevant statistics to hand, but i think there are a really huge number of
young people, intelligent, skilled, very hard-working, who have great
difficulty finding a job. Bringing in cheap unskilled labour may perhaps not be
unnecessary, but it won't solve the problem of Poland's educated, skilled
jobless, who are not cut out for unskilled labour and whose capabilities lie in
other areas. I imagine that many of the unskilled and manual workers left
Poland because they weren't getting a fair wage. They went abroad to unskilled
and manual work, and are still exploited, but get more for it. The educated and
skilled (please don't imagine here that i imply that manual workers are not
skilled, i have great respect for such people), some of the educated and
skilled have also gone abroad to unskilled and manual work, but many of them
remain in the 'Ojczyna' and aren't in the best situation. I can only hope it
improves. I think that in Poland, the influx of foreign labour may well drive
wages for unskilled and manual labour down. This would be quite a disaster in
Poland and would no doubt drive Polish unskilled and manual labourers either
abroad or to a desperate and unstable situation.

marcus, have you ever seen 20 and 30 year olds in Poland taking an early retirement?
                    • marcus_anglikiem Re: Mass immigration planned for Poland 20.07.07, 21:25
longinharden, i think you misunderstood - hardenfelt said that most unemployed
people in Poland were old - i said that i didn't think they were - i didn't say
anything about the young taking early retirement.
                      • asdf401 Re: Mass immigration planned for Poland 22.07.07, 11:59
All unemployment data in Poland are phony. How large is our grey sector? I
myself know probably dozen or so people doing farily well and regitered as
unemployed for medical insurance benefits. It could be true that most
unemployed in Poalnd are in fact the older folks.

i would have thought it would be more likely older people who were in grey
                          employment... though perhaps i'm wrong...

He should have added his regret that the average IQ was 90, and not 100 as it
would have been had the Nazis not shot all the intellectuals. I refer

This has been retained for only 10 years, though, on the grounds that those 20
million hypotheticals would by that time have emigrated to the rest of the EU
                  anyway.

I am delighted, and we have set up a rep office in Shenzhen to help Polish
      firms locate Chinese manpower.

If anyone wants to use that, please look at www.strategiahorwath.com for
      details.
    • jeanie_mccake Re: Mass immigration planned for Poland 26.07.07, 22:39
      Why not?
Most of Poland's builders, waitresses and doctors have emigrated, and although
Bulgarians and Romanians now have the same right to work in PL as Poles have to
work in the UK, they somehow haven't been tempted.
There was talk of allowing cheap Ukrainian labour to work legally on Polish
farms, and it would be easier for Ukrainian builders to come to Poland
temporarily than for Chinese and Indians.
The problem is, however, that anyone in Europe who can read now associates
Poland with tellytubbies and the insane gibberings of the Kaczynskis, Rydzyk
and Giertych's cretinous father, so they have to look for immigrants farther
      away.
They've put adverts in Chinese and Indian newspapers "If You are work in our
country You can your kousin in Germany visit, hello!"

Maybe in a few years Poles'll moan about Indian plumbers the same way as the
French do about Polish plumbers, and the Scots about Poles with rucksacks in
Job Centres asking ridiculous questions in really bad English.
      • artremi Re: Mass immigration planned for Poland 21.08.07, 01:38
Jeanie_mccake, I'm glad your English is perfect (and so is your Polish, I assume).
The reason why the Ukrainians do not come to Poland in large numbers, is that
they prefer to work in Russia. The jobs there are plentiful, pay well, and there
        is no language barrier.
