Election shortly before presidency or not is a secondary problem.
From time to time we have to do with different government crises in
different UE countries. How many problems had Italy – rhetorical
question. Belgium, with EU capitol Brussels, had no government many
months in the last time and they will have problems in the future
between two nations in this country (Flams and Walons).
What about Austria which was even suspended as EU member in the
Haider time? So, Czechs are not some huge exception. The problem is:
wrong and potentially weak model of the EU presidency. Why should be
some government 6 months long the “president” of the EU? We should
have just a group of people, like in the Euro Bank, which could be
this presidency 6 months long on the rotating basis but for such
changes we need a new EU constitution or some treaty if somebody do
not like the word “constitution”.
But I demand too much probably. We will be weak in the EU and that’s
the great news for Russia, China or Iran because only united we
could be really strong in face of all world problems.
