Hizballah cross-border assault expanded Monday afternoon to a Katyusha rocket
attack on Kiryat Shmona after 4 Israeli troops were injured, two very
seriously, in failed Hizballah kidnap attempt.

The Hizballah attack continues.
Hizballah launched a second raid later on the IDf Gladiola position on Mt.
Dov. Israel troops engaged the intruders in hand-to-hand fighting.
5 Hizballah raiders killed in both strikes.
The attacks began with the infiltration of Kfar Ajar of a large Hizballah band
intending to kidnap Israeli troops. It was repelled and 4 of its members
killed. To cover the band’s retreat, Hizballah bases in Lebanon heavily
bombarded the site of attack. Israeli warplanes and artillery struck back
against Hizballah positions on the Lebanese side, countered by Hizballah
rocket and mortar attacks on Metula and Snier. Residents fled to bomb
Israel’s northern border has been on and off alert since last Thursday when
Hizballah bands were reported by intelligence to be heading for raids against
Israeli military border positions and villages. There was also a Hizballah
threat to abduct Israeli soldiers and civilians and take them to Lebanon as
hostages.
Syria is reported using the Lebanese terrorists to heat up the border so as to
ease international pressures on Damascus.
