About 4 p.m. on Friday, July 28, on the eve of the Jewish sabbath, a Muslim
terrorist of Pakistani origins named Naveed Afzal Haq forced a 14-year-old
girl to get him into the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building by
holding a gun to her back. He then pulled out the two large-caliber
semi-automatic pistols he had just purchased and went on a murderous rampage.
Haq killed one woman, Pam Waechter, 58, an assistant director at the
federation, and injured five others, one of whom was 17 weeks pregnant.

Eye-witnesses report that Haq announced, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at
Israel," and then began shooting; that he "told the police that it was a
hostage situation and he wanted us to get our weapons out of Israel" and that
he was upset about what was going on in Israel. To a 911 dispatcher, Haq
announced: "I want these Jews to get out. ? I'm upset at your foreign policy.
These are Jews. I'm tired of getting pushed around, and our people getting
pushed around by the situation in the Middle East. ? I'm an American too but I
just want our people out of Iraq."

Tylko uruchomienie alternatywnych źródeł energii pozwoli trzymać krótko przy

Israel

Goldstein's actions were immediately condemned by the Israeli government, the
mainstream Israeli parties and the Israeli populace in general. Spokespeople for
all the organized denominations of Judaism denounced his act as immoral and as
terrorism. The Kach movement, to which he belonged, was outlawed. The victims of
the shooting received financial compensation. [citation needed]

In an address to the Knesset, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin denounced the US-born
Goldstein as a "foreign implant" and an "errant weed." He continued, "We say to
this horrible man and those like him: you are a shame on Zionism and an
embarrassment to Judaism." Binyamin Netanyahu, head of the Likud party declared,
"This was a despicable crime. I express my unequivocal condemnation." [15]

A poll of 500 Israeli adults for the International Centre for Peace in the
Middle East found that 78.8 percent of people condemned the Hebron massacre
while 3.6 percent praised Goldstein[16]

Jewish diaspora

In Britain the Chief Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Sacks stated "Such an act is an
obscenity and a travesty of Jewish values. That it should have been perpetrated
against worshippers in a house of prayer at a holy time makes it a blasphemy as
well." He continued, "Violence is evil. Violence committed in the name of God is
doubly evil. Violence against those engaged in worshipping God is unspeakably
evil." [17]

An editorial in The Jewish Chronicle written by Chaim Bermant denounced the Kach
organisation to which Goldstein belonged as "Neo-Nazis" and an U.S. creation,
funded by American money and a product of American gun culture.[18] The same
edition also reported that some liberal synagogues in the UK had begun
fund-raising for Goldstein's victims.

On the other hand, there were also articles and letters in the U.S. Jewish press
claiming that Baruch Goldstein "pre-emptively struck, thus saving many Jewish
lives." [19]
