U.S. may allow Israeli companies to help rebuild Iraq

The United States government is looking at allowing
Israeli companies to participate in the
rehabilitation of Iraq.




On Sunday Israel's foreign
minister, Silvan Shalom,
delivered a request to William
Burns, an assistant to
Secretary of State Colin
Powell, to allow U.S. ships to
dock in Israeli ports en route
from the Gulf region.

Shalom also asked that Israeli

companies be allowed to participate in the
process of rehabilitating Iraq after the war.

Insofar as could be ascertained, Burns said the
government would examine the possibility in a
positive light, as well as the request regarding
docking.
