What do you think of Olimpiada z Języka Angielskiego, I think it was just
radiculous! (being a teacher,not a disappointed student)

I am a student and I think it was awful. I have a question. What's the
difference between ensure and assure. Can I say "ensure safety" I think it's
ok but I am not sure. Thanks in advance.

That was a challenge!!!The worst were the idiom translations english-
      polish,I've done only 2...
According to the '...security' I think that there should be 'provide'.

Come on, it wasn't that hard.. Of course, ensure I think fits far better than
assure, but well, this is Mr. Krzyzanowski so you can never be sure...

Ay, kids, I took part in Olimpiada a few years ago, in my olde school times.
Every year it seemed to be more difficult. And I had the pleasure of meeting
Mr Krzyżanowski personally. Well, he looks and behaves exactly the way you
imagine when you try to write one of his tests...
Never give up, though, it's a hell of a pleasure to get to the final and even
          greater to see Poznan, heh.

You tell me.... I saw him last year... He even asked me questions during the
speaking part. He wasn't nice though..
            • ysengrin Re: Olimpiada 18.12.02, 22:40
Of course he isn't nice. Just imagine what kind of crooked personality one
must have to be able to create such tests...

              How did it go? Success?

not so.., but I did get a place at English Dep in Poznan - a safe net:) I was
disugsted with the atmosphere among the participants. This year I take it more
at ease... If I do fine, then fine. If I don't then fine as well... And you?
                • ysengrin Re: Olimpiada 19.12.02, 23:54
Well, it all lies in the deep shadows of the past. Worked pretty hard, didn't
win though ;) But I got what I wanted - a safety net, as you put it. Didn't
have to use it. I took entrance examinations for something different than
English philology and succeded. I think it doesn't relly matter if you
actually win - you have the feeling that you're amongst the best anyway. But
the most important thing is that you DO have a good grasp ot the language and
I assure you, you will benefit from it. English does really open many doors.
Especially whan you are rally able to speak it. And I'm sure you are.
