      In American slang hooky or hookey.
      Cutting school or class has same meaning.

      I am cutting school today=jestem na wagarach
      I am playing hookey=jestem na wagarach

        The ward truant, although correct, is never used in American English as an
        equivelent to a polish ward "wagary".

          The word 'truant' may appear in a school report or a nespaper article... but an
          actual truant will sooner 'skip school' or 'skip lessons' than play truant!

            Guys, don't argue; Both truant and hooky are good enough for our Baska to try.
            What if she takes to that too much?

              I would explain anything :) I've learnt English for 1 ear and it's a first
              time in my live than in 2002 "I've touched" the english vocabulary. It's so
              difficult for me to speak end write in this language.
              During my last english lesson my teacher tell us to make 'byself' portrait ;
              It's very strange to speak about me;
              well now, for this english trial shot I imagine me a little lazy and woulding
              from time to time playing truant :))

              In this 'write-job' I'm speeching many more differents thinks about me but
              hooky, truant is just for fun:))

              so far, I've never seen that idiom; thanks for your help and pardon for many
              mistakes :((

      In England truancy means "wagary", a truant is "wagarowicz" and to play truant
      means "wagarowac, pojsc na wagary".
