Financial question this time :)

I'm going to spend almost three weeks in the UK (Canterbury) on a
teacher training. Do you think that 400 pounds will be enough to
cover the living expenses (except acccomodation)??? Will I be able
to have a beer in the evening or just bread and butter? I have no
idea about costs of living in the UK.

as far as I can remember we used to spend about Ł150 on food once a
fortnight for 2 people - but that was lots and lots of quite nice
food including beer and wine too (not too much though) so you
probably won't spend that much :) basic food is not expensive in my
opinion - you can have a look at some supermarket sites :) (e.g.
sainsbury's, tesco's, I think there is morrisons, somerfield and
iceland in canterbury as well - just to compare the prices of what
you normally buy)

a pint of beer in the pub is - hope someone will correct me if I'm
wrong - about Ł4? a glass of wine Ł5-6?

Long-distance travel is expensive - are you getting a train from the
airport to Canterbury? Check the prices if you are - this might give
you a shock. But if you book in advance - you may be nicely
surprised :) Taxis are obviously even more expensive. Local buses -
not sure about Canterbury - in London it's pretty cheap Ł2 as far as
I can remember or even less than a Ł1 with oyster card (special
travel card). On Isle of Wight it's Ł3 single journey, so that's
probably closer to Canterbury fees.

then you'll definitely be fine - some people earn Ł800 a month and
have bills to pay :)
